Als gevolg hiervan werd het plan om te ontsnappen in een boekenkist gesmeed. Vanwege de viering van een jaarlijkse markt in Gorinchem werd op 22 maart de kist niet gecontroleerd. Het plan lukte en De Groot ontsnapte. 3/4
