A new report shows that buying PlayStation games on disc is usually much cheaper than buying them digitally from the PlayStation Store. The price comparison looked at several PlayStation games and found that physical copies are often the cheaper option. In some cases, disc versions were up to 90% cheaper than the digital version, especially after a game had been out for a while. This is why they are pushing for all-digital: they want to get the maximum profit from this while controlling the market prices.

@NBCNews Yeah but do any of those movies, music or books need digital patches, fixes and or have dlc content that release a while after they come out? Discs are becoming obsolete as hardly any game is fully complete on disc.. For eg, Find Avatar Complete edition on disc... 🤷🏽

Watching people parrot “discs always need a day one patch anyway” is embarrassing It’s complete bullshit. Capcom alone proved that wrong in 2026. Two massive releases shipped complete on disc , no download required, and both were sold out physically for months.

@ADocumentaries @Omegawyrm76 The last time I paid full price for a game was MK9(PS3)... I always wait for sales.. Because by the time the game goes on sale it's been patched, updated, fixed n it's a much better gaming experience than day 1 bs... 👍🏽

"internet required to install the game" This is what I mean. Physical discs are so often completely useless. You will still be forced to download it from a server. One day this disc will only be good as a coaster.
