Rudy Giuliani has been hospitalized in critical condition at a hospital in Florida 🚨
The exact cause hasn’t been publicly confirmed or detailed by his team or doctors. He was on his show Friday night, sounding raspy/under the weather.
Lung issues are being unofficially cited.
Last day back in Canada. Was a great trip, mostly. Back to Australia tomorrow to continue my mission as unofficial team ambassador for Australia's favourite ice hockey team. Go Sens Go, always.
From my perspective, the most civil fanbases that don’t make your brain rot every time you talk to them are:
• Anaheim Ducks
• Calgary Flames
• Seattle Kraken
• LA Kings
• Utah Mammoth
@DugasDavid@the_habitant@DMCstan_ Yes. Grew up a Habs fan until Ottawa got their franchise. Never realized how insufferable Montreal fans were. That “ Ole ole ole” chant is so cringe. I’m at the point where I’d rather see the Leafs win a Cup before Montreal.
@DMCstan_ Biggest brain rot fanbases that are always one tweet away from an FBI raid
- Habs
- Leafs
- Oilers
- Rangers
- Wings
- Hawks
I’d add the Sens but they don’t have enough fans to qualify as a fanbase
I’m not trying to hurt any Gen X feelings with this, but we as a society have GOT to chill with the Journey music.
They were on 3 stations at the same time today.
It’s been 40 years. Move on already.
Sunday Rant: The Ottawa Senators 2021 draft strategy must be studied so no mistake like it ever happens again
•Before COVID season: Traded 2021 2nd to Arizona for the corpse of Derek Stepan to add a veteran for the young core…Stepan finished the season with 1 goal in 20 games averaging 15+ TOI/GP… and the Coyotes drafted Josh Doan with pick
•#Sens finish *horrific* season 9-2-1 to drop into 10th overall
•Brandt Clarke goes 8th, Dylan Guenther 9th
—>Ottawa takes Tyler Boucher 10th (would have been a great pick in 2nd round)
•39th overall: draft Zack Ostapchuk (fine)
•42nd overall: trade back to 49th (add a 5th)
—> 47th: DAL selects Logan Stankoven
•49th overall: draft Ben Roger (never signed)
—> next 3 picks: Chibrikov, Koivunen, Raty
All in all, Ottawa made 6 selections — only 2 were signed (Boucher, Ostapchuk) and TB is one of only 4 first rounders to not yet play an NHL game (including Chaz Lucius who had to retire due to injuries)…the others were picked 25th and 29th overall.
After a grand slam home run in 2020, feels like 2021 was a groundout triple play that set this franchise back in a huge way.
Lessons to learn:
—Do not trade 1st/2nds for “veteran help” unless the vets can definitely still play
—Do not go way off consensus boards with a lottery pick
—Do not draft “raw, project type” players just because they’re tall unless they’ve shown they can compete vs good competition
—Value undersized players with elite motors
Dont know why I needed to get that off my chest on a Sunday morning but that said I’ve been encouraged with the Senators drafting for the most part the last couple years under Staios’ leadership, and cannot wait for this years draft coming up at the end of June.
Draft Profiles begin in 2 weeks on LOSP ✅
Bruce Garrioch: Re Senators: They need a pure 30 goal scorer...someone who can play with Tim Stutzle; they've been looking for that guy for a year; if [Staios] can't do this in unrestricted free agency, is it time to move a core piece - TSN (4/27)
Here at #OHL Futures Camp is a can’t miss prospect in F Logan Prud’homme.
The 15-year-old right-shot from Upper Canada College stands at 6’7, 220 lbs & should be a top pick in the upcoming #OHLDraft.
The Ottawa native models his game after #LetsGoBuffalo star Tage Thompson.
Bruce Garrioch: Re Senators goalies: The club...has Mads Sogaard in the organization, but he’s an unrestricted free agent on July 1 and the expectation is he won’t be back - Ottawa Citizen (4/28)
State of hockey in Canada
Oilers - Window closed just don't know it yet. Connor gone soon
Sens - Tkachuk leaving within 2 years
Leafs - About to hire Chayka
Jets - Hellebuyck gone soon and no 1 wants to play there
Flames and Canucks - Early stage rebuilds
Habs - Only hope
@SensProspects@SensCentral Can’t wait to see the looks on all the Sens haters faces when it’s Ottawa (of all teams) that has the best goaltender in the NHL.
Another day, another Lucas Beckman shutout 👀
Beckman stopped all 21 shots Friday night, earning first star honours. He’s now 11–2 with a .939 SV% in the QMJHL playoffs. Chicoutimi leads their semifinal series 3–2.
