I was rejected by the Hong Kong educational system when I was 16. My score didn’t make the cut off to proceed to A-level (UK system). I then pursued education in Australia which changed my life

#medTwitter #medstudentTwitter reminder: Failure is part success. Today I was organizing some papers and found these 3 #rejection letters from medical school (from Stanford, Yale, and UCSF). Normalizing rejection is just as important as sharing your wins. #tweetyourRejection

@GingerGorman @devalara44 I’m 50 and it has gotten better as I’ve aged but I am a senior executive and I’m not taking any nonsense from anybody.
English

@devalara44 OK. So my follow-up question is this… how old are you now, and do you think this has gotten worse as you have gotten older? Thank you 🙏

@callybeaton I once had a 5 minute argument with a man who insisted my name is Emma, (it’s Claire). Even with assistance from 3 colleagues, I was unable to convince him that I knew my own name.

Lifetime achievement mansplain alert: Arrived to give a speech. Holding slide had me down as Carry Beaton, so I said I was Cally, if they could change it. The guy said he’d been told it’s definitely Carry. I said no, it’s me - I’m Cally so it does need changing. He showed me an email he’d been sent to prove it really is Carry, not Cally. Even I began to wonder.

@emilycmulligan I loved hot cucumber as a child. My favourite toasted sandwich. Children are weird.

@betty_stal @BrianneKohl As a child, I thought God’s first name was Peter because we had to keep saying, “thanks Peter God”.
English

@BrianneKohl My mum was an infant school teacher. One of the kids thought God's actual name was Harold. As in "Our Father who art in heaven, Harold be thy name." 🤣
