Catholics are always being attacked for praying “repetitive prayers”. Is there any benefit to it? Let’s take a look 🧵: It is supported by a growing body of research in neuroscience, particularly in the fields of neurotheology and studies on neuroplasticity (the brain’s ability to reorganize itself by forming and strengthening new neural connections through repeated experiences).

@madge254 @Sachinettiyil You should listen to him. And you can go directly to the sessions where he talks about the books not present in the Protestant Bible. You will see how respectful and kind he is to everyone, unlike some pastors I have heard recently trying to criticize him.

Your odds of being struck by lightning are more than seven times greater than getting Hantavirus in the USA. About 250 people get struck by lightening each year. There are about 35 cases per year of Hantavirus in the UEA, with about 12 deaths per year on average. Obviously, Hantavirus shouldn't be a big concern for the vast majority of Americans.

@planesanity Say what you want about the space shuttle. I truly loved it, was heartbroken when it was retired, and wish I could have seen a launch.

You’ll get it when we get there.” USPS: “What package?” Amazon: “We are already inside your apartment. Check the bathroom.” Facebook: “We know you were thinking about getting a toaster yesterday. @MCCCANM The first time I drove the inside of the terminals at DFW it was overwhelming to see just how much movement there is. Feels like an anthill and I’m surprised that in general things stay on the safe side.

@MCCCANM Maybe unrelated, but I heard yesterday that Delta might be looking into getting rid of Airbus airplanes in general (except for the A-350) because under the contracts Airbus HAS to be the sole supplier of parts, making it extremely expensive. I wonder if anyone can confirm.

"When I saw him banking around after taking off I thought either this is going to be really sweet, or it's going to end up in crash videos on YouTube forever" Best description I´ve read on this 747 flyover at the 2018 Michigan Air Show (labelled elsewhere as "lowest ever", not sure if that is the case, but sure is impressive) 📹Ryan Tykosh Photography

@OnDisasters I used to love watching the Iberia A-340 taking off from MVD to MAD. To its lack of power, add that it was extremely heavy with fuel “up to the windows” for the long flight. The takeoff was so flat that it was spectacular to see from the airport fence.

"The A340 is so slow that it´s the only plane to have been hit by bird strikes from behind.” The early variants of the Airbus A340 (such as the 200 seen here) had a reputation of being underpowered, with its CFM56-5C4 engines often described as "four hairdriers". With such fame, no wonder they weren´t popular sellers for airlines: only 28 A340-200s were produced (later models, with updated engines, fared much better) As such, given its relative rarity, let´s appreciate this footage of this Qatar Amiri A340-200 taking off at Geneva by GVA Spotter

@DjsAviation I’m the wrong person to ask. I see an A-6 Intruder, A-7 Corsair, or an A-10 Warthog and they seem beautiful as well.

Personally I would recommend The Bible in a Year by Fr. Mike Schmitz. It mixes the books and keeps it interesting and interwoven. If you want to go faster you can download the timeline for free. It includes the seven books that are not in Protestant Bibles (even if you disagree it is still very interesting).

I’ve finally decided to read the entire bible. So far, I’ve read Genesis and Exodus. I’m obviously really interested in reading the Gospels and New Testament. I’m debating skipping ahead to the Gospels. What do you recommend I do: Read the bible from front to back or skip ahead and read the Gospels (or entire New Testament) and then go back to the Old Testament.

Something is up. Several Protestants churches in the Dallas area are now starting to talk about the Shroud of Turin as real. For me there was never any doubt, but I wonder what prompted the change of heart.

Three Protestants talking 90 minutes about the Shroud of Turin, blown away by its reality, and letting the Shroud “walk them” through the sufferings of Christ. With all due respect, this week instead of bickering about who is a better Catholic, why not spend that time in that type of meditation? youtu.be/PVY6gwHLVpw?si…

Here are the reasons I became Catholic in 2019. 1. Honestly, I like praying directly to statues as though they are gods. 2. Look, I really just want to earn my own salvation. 3. I’m tired of confessing directly to Jesus. I want another mediator. 4. The Pope never sins or says anything wrong, and gets brand new revelations from God. I need a leader like that. 5. I want a second chance after I die. That’s what purgatory is. 6. I really want to worship Mary as a goddess and the honorary 4th member of the Trinity. 7. I’m sick of hearing the Bible at Church. Give me a Church where you never hear it one time even if you’re an altar boy and go to Catholic school your whole childhood. 8. I don’t think anyone but priests and nuns should be allowed to read the Bible. If you have one in your house it should be on the coffee table collecting dust. 9. I really hate thinking for myself. I need a religion where you don’t think. 10. I want to keep Jesus on the cross. Resurrection? Never heard of it.

@VadeadIesum I’ll respectfully disagree in part. I do a lot of praying. Sometimes I feel better taking my own time as I pray and meditate. Sometimes it feels good to have a “praying companion”. Believe me: if an app is helping people get into the habit of praying, that’s satan’s loss.

If I need an app to remind me of when to pray Satan already has won. It's good for people who need it.
