@realpestilence @txgermanbre Blame them. If touching the stove is the only way then learn then let's just get it over with. I'd love to live in a world where I can just point to my spreadsheet, tell them the correct policy answers and they'd listen, but that's not how voters work.

@7Lynux @txgermanbre Someone wanting innocent people to feel pain and suffer because she doesn't understand-or care, whichever- how the NATO partnership works is immoral.

You’re not getting away with this fast. You changed your replies. But I’m everywhere.

@DissidentNeolib journals.uchicago.edu/doi/abs/10.108… It's been awhile since I read it but I remember this revealing that women were quite strongly biased towards female candidates and men were very slightly biased towards female candidates too (in favor) and I believe they had controls

@DissidentNeolib There might be some bias but I'm not sure it's noteworthy. If anything, Kamala losing by like 2 points despite having a lot of retarded positions in the past that she couldn't hand wave away + unpopular president + global anti incumbent wave + inflation indicates very low bias

@DissidentNeolib Don't think there's any evidence for this. In fact, I'm pretty sure data suggests that voters are very slightly biased towards female candidates. Sexuality probably does play a notable role. But race and gender is almost negligible from what I know.

@ShadowyZephyr @Aella_Girl Yeah I was being kinda hyperbolic. But it does surprise me how many relatively large accounts on here who tweet about IQ have a very poor or subpar understanding of the literature.

@7Lynux @Aella_Girl Does seem to be common with those types, but some of them know their shit too.

a long time ago i had the experience of chatting irl with someone well known on twitter, well connected, well platformed, influential, etc. He was smart, seemed to have domain expertise in his technical field. But gradually over the course of the conversation I realized he didn't actually know what he was talking about. He used complicated words, but in subtly off ways, and would reply to questions with things that sounded like answers but actually weren't.He'd confidently reference concepts that I think he assumed I didn't know, but I did know, and I knew that the term he used didn't actually have anything to do with his claim, etc. But his confidence was intense and radiating, and the speed at which he talked and the complex vocabulary he used really disguised what I perceived to be both a lack of deep understanding of the material and also a lack of self-awareness that he didn't have deep understanding! I've def met people who disagree with me online who I think *do* engage deeply with the concepts, but this specific one didn't, and it was a little blackpilling for me to realize that he had such a following from a bunch of people who couldn't tell the difference.

No Kings is a thinly-disguised pep rally designed to get people fired up to vote for the Dems in November. Nothing more.

@txgermanbre My somewhat out there prediction is that MAGA will significantly hurt Republicans in the medium to long term. People forget how hard the GOP dominated local and congressional politics. Now they have a disengaged base and have burned away human capital like crazy.

@HMBrough_ @pick1oftheabove My family is Catholic and we all have Christian names. I have never once experienced a weird reaction from white people for my name and I have to wonder if maybe your perception on this is wrong. Like, not even very old conservative white people.

@pick1oftheabove I actually went by a (very common) Anglo nickname for a couple years, it only served to confuse White people and make me look weird. It comes across as really insecure, a kind of “lady doth protest too much” thing.

Indians do assimilate with their names. They abandoned orthodox Sanskrit names (how many Mritwinjays and Dharmadhikaris do you meet??) and use only English phonemes. They are not going to name their kids Steve, because it would look bizarre and desperate.
Pay Roll Manager Here@UsingLyft

I’m not trying to be funny here and I’m genuinely asking, but isn’t naming your kids something American part of assimilating? Or are there no American names because we’re just a melting pot? Again I’m really just asking please no Indians freak out
