@mashtateos It's narrative design and production are immaculate, my actual issue is that the main focus of the game is not that.
All of this is so cool but the game is about a pretty fun pvpve loop.

@HubPointless I mean yes that's part of the story. The Viltrum empire by the time of Invincible is a crumbling project that is riding the progress made centuries beforehand after a militant group broke their society because they felt they were too 'soft' and complacent with peace.

That said, it did seem purposeful. With the war being to wipe out the legions post crusade victory. Only it didn't go well.

@DeadlockAnon Buy the counters that affect the most heroes. Each counter item can cover several characters, find which one best works against the enemy team.
It's usually some form of antiheal anyway.

@Macaronicrusad1 @MarcusCVance There wasn't a scandal though, GW and Amazon took time to negotiate their creative guidelines and Cavil has little involvement in the situation. He's been continuing his film work mainly. Lots of characters and units have been purely lore based for some time in the setting.

@7Sibil @MarcusCVance I’m just trying to make sense of it, if the reason was delayed lore was due table top versions not having female models it shouldn’t have also delayed the books in my opinion and that whole scandal with amazon was happening at the time so my guess is as good as anyone else’s.

@MarcusCVance I’m pretty sure they retconned female custodes into the lore due to the Amazon show Henry cavil was supposed to be directing and as some of you know Amazon has to fill a diversity which cavil didn’t agree with.

@SpacedOutTracey Aside from the initial scummyiness of how they handled selling the chapters and merch, the first couple had the benefit of being early works by new devs. At this point there are things that should have been learned. Improvements made. A clearer design outline of where it's going.

I think what I find so interesting about Marks criticisms of Poppy 5 and the fan response to it. Is like, ARE these things fundamental disagreements on the series identity or are they actual valid complaints on poor structure of the game.

When I tell people to play other horror games that aren’t poppy/fnaf/whatever it’s not “oh you should be playing REAL horror games” it’s “play games made by people who actually respect your time and don’t think you’re a moron”

mark was SO disappointed by poppy playtime chapter 5 he said that it was “a fucking mess” and that he will not even bother playing chapter 6 i genuinely don’t blame him but wow i’ve never seen this man more disappointed by a game in my entire life

@LoopRunnerJones @auroraswebworld It's a trend so I can't blame people, but having character details in optional notes doesn't equate to effective story telling. Not to get into the weeds of most players missing this stuff, what expresses a character most is their actions. Huggy just isn't given enough.

Huggy isn't even a highly meaningful character in his own game. Doey, the Prototype and Poppy have far more going on.

@LoopRunnerJones @auroraswebworld Being on the cover doesn't make for a meaningful character. One that had already died four years ago in his intro chapter and we can't even say he's dead this time! This is just going back to what I said. You only get something out of these scenes if you're deep in the fandom.

@LoopRunnerJones @auroraswebworld The 'seeing her a lot' is literally standing around near Poppy, and occasionally acting as a plot convenience. She gets no character development.
What turning good, he's momentarily stopped seconds after just trying to kill you in yet another chase because he sees Kissy.

You can maybe care about Kissy, but she's a silent character you see a few times and Huggy tries to kill you multiple times why would the player care for them dying? If you're not deeply into the fandom, the game doesn't motivate at all.

@CrashBooch The first thing I saw about Chapter 5 before seeing all of it was people being disappointed by the ultimate reveal of the Prototype's design so the purely positive response is bogus.

@LoopRunnerJones @auroraswebworld I mean, don't think much was revealed this chapter. It really felt like a step down from the previous one when the game was starting to feel like it was getting its feet and playing to its strength.
By the time 5 finished, it definitely was more of a "that was it?" feeling.

@auroraswebworld One of the most boring playthroughs to ever watch. Im a HUGE fan of Mark, but man, was he just miserable the entire stream. Complaining the entire time and then when somethings happening thats cool or is being revealed he has no reaction whatsoever. Still love Mark tho.
