@AmericanIpa8@DanKnightly Perhaps, it was insanely different than what I witnessed from Pens/Flyers. Not a single review on any play. Uppercuts, spears, sucker punches, elbows, few if any got called.
@7thDefender@DanKnightly My theory is the word went out after the uproar over the Benson slewfoot/MacAvoy slash. Sole national game on a Saturday night it was designed to pretend they hadn’t let ‘em play for the last two weeks.
Gotta love the hockey media . Mantha literally uppercut a Flyer twice in 6 games and not a peep. Flyers slash a guy on the knee and this and its all they are talking about
@CHIonReal@mop5pta@spittinchiclets They called a major cause of the flopping around. Don't think there was a call at first. Not gonna debate hockey stories, but ya I've been slashed there so hard I bled through my hockey socks. I skated away after a goal and got chopped. Kept playing, pretended it never occurred.
@7thDefender@mop5pta@spittinchiclets Dude the back of your knee has no padding at all. That shit hurts 🤣 especially when you’re already tied up with someone else and not expecting it. You would’ve been more mad if they kept it a major and didn’t review
@HarvNastyy@GinoHard_ Going to age myself but rocked the DR Centurion guards back in the day with the full hard protective shell wrap on the calf as a D-man. Someone slashed me across the calves once(broke their stick) & dropped me hard af. Played the start of the PP next shift.
@NerosDrinkinBud@HarvNastyy@GinoHard_ 99.9% of people that play even moderately competitive hockey have been slashed harded than this.. and I guarantee you none of them reacted like this. If they did they'd be the laughing stock of every team in their league.
@AmericanIpa8@DanKnightly Refs were incredibly soft... Some of the softest calls all playoffs for both teams. It's ridiculous to go from an absolute war on ice to fairy princess hockey in game 1.
@DanKnightly The bigger joke was that 1-handed love tap on the pants by Hathaway that was called “slashing, lol. The dude didn’t even know he’d been touched.
@DanMcKi52271510@BroadStHockey The refs are soft as hell.. as in they are calling everything. It was a lot different than last series. That's the frustration, both teams had insanely soft calls. Was different experience for the players coming out of the pens/flyers series. Didn't see much of Ottawa/canes.
@mop5pta@CHIonReal@spittinchiclets Problem is, the flyers just left a series where punching and uppercuting/spearing people after the whistle was fine. No calls, no reviews.. now this series Svenichkov flops around on the ice and the refs go to Video review.
@gharmantzis@gooseyj18@spittinchiclets Sliding into a guys knees/ankles to dodge a hit is scummy imo. I also think a goalie tackling a player about to score is a bit odd too.
@PNT3939@davegrohlsrolls@Ywolok@espn Lol, the refs were shite. That's what the post was saying. The pens flyers series had 25 reviewable things happen and guys just played on. Svenichkov takes a slash and roles around like he's about to lose his leg. I've never seen a flop be rewarded with a 5min major/review.
@davegrohlsrolls@Ywolok@espn You had a player literally grab the stick of the opponent and high stick himself with the opponents stick to draw a call. You DO NOT have any room for complaints about the officiating tonight. It was more than fair both ways.
I’m sorry @espn you guys suck at covering hockey.
Jackson Blake swings the stick which is suspension worthy…don’t talk about it. Don’t even show it…just the response.
@wyshynski It’s probably the first time in the history of hockey that non player on a bench participated in the chirping. Oh wait, it probably happens on every bench every game. Who the fuck cares?
Ray Ferraro said that one of the Flyers trainers was giving it to Andrei Svechnikov which begs the question: Is the ability to shit-talk opponents a skill requirement listed for a Flyers trainer?
@da_ouchy@aaronpatrickm@BR_OpenIce You've convinced yourself the flyers are a dirty team, and now are looking for anyway to prove that bias to be true. Blake shouldn't be swinging his stick around like a sword. Everything that happens is soft as hell until that point.
@aaronpatrickm@BR_OpenIce Either way (at least in isolation) I can understand this idea... moreso was upset because I felt this a distillation of the Flyers' "brand" so to speak (though as an opposing fan I'm clearly biased lol)
Well, Zegras isn't going to be Mr. Popularity in Raleigh after that sequence.
He & Blake were battling all the way down the ice, after a few traded shots, Zegras knocked him down. Then I guess Zegras though Blake was faking, b/c he cross-checked him again while he was down.
@TSN_Sports This is weak. You think Pronger or Leclair or Recchi or any of the greats would have taken a game off in the playoffs? This is SOFT. If you’re skating, you play a playoff game. This is some Gen Z BS
@ByJonBailey Yea, it's frightening how the situation just doesnt seem to bother him at all. Like good frightening, lots of guys just making the quick simple smart play. He's got a different type of composure in the offensive zone. He wants to create offense/chances every play.
