What Fairwinds proposes is to connect the existing MUOS radios to an 5G conversion kit. This means that the MUOS user equipment is able to use AST LEO satellites, when available, on AST compatible spectrum and in 5G. Which allows US and allies to use their radios longer. 8/

Update of my $ASTS launch prediction chart. From Q4 CC, Abel Avellan: "...launch cadence of around one launch every forty five days on the New Glenn." This speeds up launch compared to my previous prediction. Eventually I predict they will move to one launch per month.

AT&T and AST SpaceMobile are taking connectivity to new highs! Another milestone on AST SpaceMobile’s BlueBird satellites — a video call directly to an everyday smartphone. No apps. No modifications. Just seamless satellite-to-cell connectivity. ✨📱📶#5G🌍 Built on a legacy of firsts in space-based cellular broadband connectivity ✅ 1st voice call from space (Apr 2023) ✅ 1st video call (Jun 2023) ✅ 1st direct-to-cell 5G call (Sept 2023) ✅ 1st public safety tests on FirstNet® (Jan 2024) “We know our customers want connectivity wherever they are, and they deserve a simple, seamless experience from one provider,” said Jeff McElfresh, chief operating officer, AT&T. “We are striving to provide everyone, from urban centers to remote areas, with access to reliable connectivity. This is about more than technology. It's about empowering people and communities everywhere.” Together, AT&T and AST SpaceMobile are working to bring reliable connectivity to more people, businesses, and first responders—even in the most remote locations. Retail cult for ASTS is the worst I’ve seen. I dunno why. It’s like super small compared to other companies that are far smaller, shittier, with worse prospects. Other retail cults are full of normies and Karens. Spacemob isn’t. It’s very odd. My guess is the appeal of ASTS is too technical and scares away the “standard retail cult joiner”. Maybe the A is too imposing. Or maybe it’s just the product is still too hard to appreciate- “I already have Internet on my phone, this isn’t exciting”. (The quality of info in the cult is amazing btw)

@IterIntellectus Elon Musk: "Bandwidth per beam is only ~10Mb." The Starlink direct to device (D2D) service has what Elon has called very large beams (a diameter of ~15 miles (24.13 km)). There is D2D universal coverage but very limited capacity. 10 Mb is tiny. Starlink at Ku band is different.
