It is a little surprising that LA didn't fast-track Snead to their Major League bullpen, but this starting experiment could add value long-term.

Nate Snead has taken to starting. Yesterday, he fired 6 perfect innings, striking out 6 with just 59 pitches. He now carries a 3.86 ERA with 28 Ks to just 6 BBs. Carrigg has two plus or better tools in his run and arm. He already has 20 steals on the season and is now 132-for-161 (82%) as a pro. Since the start of the 2024 season, Carrigg leads all of the minor leagues with 224 triples...the most exciting play in baseball!

Cole Carrigg is on fire. Over the last week, he's hitting .524. He's always had an intriguing athletic profile but there were questions about his hit and power tools. Carrigg is switch hitting and performing from both sides of the plate. He weirdly struggled with the strikeout in 2025 (27%) but has seemingly reverted to post the best K-rate of his career at 15%. The change has likely reduced his power output, but this is the right approach and the power will come.

Cag's opponents are attacking him down in the zone. He has a steeper path and has mainly been beating those balls hard into the ground. The league average fly ball rate is 38.6% and Caglianone is at just 27%. Not where you want your power guy to be.

Jac Caglianone is putting together a good sophomore season. He went deep last night, hitting a ball 421 feet off Matt Festa. He has continued to make adjustments and refine his swing decisions. He has 4 homers on the season and has struck out 35 times. His chase rate has dropped from 39% to 31%. #Royals

There is enough defense and arm here to think the Royals can keep him out in RF for the forseeable future.

Montgomery has primarily played CF in the minors. He'll likely slide over to RF long-term, with plenty of arm. You're probably getting a 45 defender and runner when he settles into an everyday role. He was 14-for-21 on the basepaths last year and is 2-for-4 in the early going.

Braden Montgomery had 4 hits over the weekend, including 2 homers, adding up to a .313/.429/.606 line at Double-A Birmingham. He's headed to Triple-A Charlotte after getting promoted Sunday night. Emerson Hancock struckout 14 over 7 innings and now has 46 to just 6 walks over 7 starts to go with a sparkling 2.59 ERA. The stuff seems similar to last year but he's throwing from a slightly lower slot and attacking hitters differently. He's using his 4-Seam FB 36% (25: 27%) and attacking up. Kazuma Okamoto has 20 RBI on the young season. He hit 248 homers in his NPB career and now has 3 homers in the last two games. There is some inconsistency in his game due to his 68% contact rate and pull-heavy approach. His 18% NPB strikeout rate has ballooned to 30% in MLB.
