Interesting practice number 1 for the #Badgers Way too early to make any definite judgements, but some early thoughts! QBs - a little sloppy, but flashed the physical tools, Adams with the throw of the day IMO as he laced a pass down the right sideline between two defenders. RBs - Abu looks like the part, reminds my physically of Clement somewhat. TEs - Might be committee to some degree - lots of intermediate throws today WR - Not a big WR day, Hilton showed the speed on a jet sweep (flashed the peace sign as he rolled into the EZ) OL - AWESOME to see BIG KEV back in there at LT. WIlkins maybe a guy at RT. Simmons has a huge frame, could be a monster as he fills out. Roeske moves well IMO. DL - Hard to judge IDL when you can't really hit. Good size at the spot. Edge - Cheeks had back 2 back pressures that would have blown up plays. Clayton flashed. ILB - Coop blew up a jet sweep. Loved what we saw from Kamara today. CB - Robinson physically reminds of Rico. Cai Bates is big and long. S - Multiple nice plays from Skanes. K'hani Watts had a nice PBU over the middle.

@chrisgb002000 @Doc_Texas No, he definitely revitalized a dormant program up until that point, but I remember the Horns in 1989 with Lance Blanks, Travis Mays, and Joey Wright (BMW). Great team and guards. Elite 8 team that year. The 🏀program has history.

@TexasPharmD @Doc_Texas That method is legit. Honestly, once the recognition of having your # retired and it’s visible in the stadium; allow the uniforms to be worn. It doesn’t take away from the legend who had his # retired. The ultimate recognition is that it’s visible in the stadium.

@83playmaker @Doc_Texas I like what Michigan did a few years ago and let players wear retired numbers with permission from the player/family and they have to wear a patch on the uniform honoring that player

@mattlawson99 @Doc_Texas If we use the “you know it when you see it” criteria, then there are 100’s of players that should have their numbers retired. I think Priest Holmes should have his # retired. Again, what would that be based on. By NFL standards, it’s a no brainer why? By college standards? 🤷🏽‍♂️

@83playmaker @Doc_Texas Colt's was already retired. But you ask a fair question. Ced won a Doak Walker award. But so did Foreman. What about the amazing DBs who have come through here? Guessing team success plays a role. Is it just "you know it when you see it?" Tough call.

With the caliber of players that have come through Texas, there are many #’s that could make that case. Hard to retire 16 because like 5, a few great players have won it. That’s why it should’ve been retired many years ago, before other great players had the opportunity to shine in it.

@JosephGBranson @Doc_Texas I think James Brown’s # should be retired. Hold up; Bijan wore 5 as well. So, 5 is a # that can’t be retired. If so, who gets the honor? While James didn’t have an NFL career, his impact at UT playing QB at Texas was one of great cultural impact and we all know why.

@mattlawson99 @Doc_Texas Ced Benson I would agree. Top 3 RB in school history. I wouldn’t be opposed to Colt’s 12 being retired. He certainly has the statistics, but what would be the criteria to retire a player’s #? Is it stats, is it impact, is it a natty or multiple conference titles? Is it accolades?

@83playmaker @Doc_Texas Colt's 12 is retired. Street should be for sure. I'd be willing to listen to an argument about Cedric Benson's 32 also.

@chrisgb002000 @Doc_Texas History tells us that if Street doesn’t make that throw to Peschel; we don’t beat Arkansas and we don’t win the natty. One of the most iconic plays in Texas 🏈history. The 2nd natty in our history at that point.
