Ironically, if Roberts concerned himself less with the reputation of the court and focused solely on administering impartial justice, the court would have a better reputation. Preoccupation with reputation often leads to the kind of image tending that results in a poor reputation. Because image tending often leads to cowardly decisions (as we have seen with Roberts).
