For those who suffer from TINNITUS - I highly recommend you boost your kidney health + work on its meridian system over the course of a few weeks to a month or more. For tinnitus specifically, the attached general exercise should be practiced 8-20 times a day (in a count of 8) for several weeks. So, do for 8, pause, then repeat until you get 8-20 times. It does not help all but it helps many. If you feel ANY change in the severity level of tinnitus or a change in volume / amount, just keep at it daily. Additionally I want you to be boosting your kidney meridians in other ways. Massage along the entire meridian (I will attach) and massage your ears daily in the way I will also attach. Massage and warm your kidneys also with your hands daily. Make sure feet are not becoming cold. All attached exercises after this will also help heal the kidneys over time. You want to assist them and warm them. Be sure turn try all though this first one is a very popular one for tinnitus. The rest help warm and heal the kidneys and marrow. Save and practice. I will post supplements this week for tinnitus that extend beyond exercises.

Something easy for Friday : “Beating the Heavenly Drum” This is a practice from Daoist longevity texts, believed to “awaken the Brain Marrow” and help with our Kidney Essence. The short version : Cover over both ears with palms and drum the occiput with fingers 24–36 times. // The longer version of how + why : Sit upright with your spine naturally lengthened and the chin slightly tucked so the back of your neck opens. Let your jaw soften and place your tongue lightly on the upper palate behind teeth. Breathe quietly through your nose until your mind settles. Then, raise both hands and gently seal the ears with your palms. Your fingers should wrap around the back of the skull so they rest over the occipital bone at the base of your head. Lift your index fingers and place over your middle finger lightly, then let them spring off the middle fingers so they snap lightly against the occiput. The motion is elastic and relaxed and not done forcefully. You may choose to not snap them off of middle finger and just tap against occiput. Because the ears are covered, the vibration echoes inside the skull and produces a deep, hollow internal sound like distant thunder or a distant drum beat. Continue steadily and evenly for several dozen taps (24-36) keeping your breath very calm and the shoulders quite relaxed. When you’re finished, lower your hands slowly and sit quietly for a few breaths so the internal resonance can settle down and integrate. The reason for practicing “Beating the Heavenly Drum” is that the brain is / was known as the “Sea of Marrow” and marrow was said to arise from the Kidney essence. The occiput and upper neck sit along the Du channel, which is called the “Sea of Yang.” - Several important points are at the base of the skull here influence the brain, spirit and marrow. The Bladder channel also passes over the head and down the entire back, with its inner line closely flanking the spine where the back ‘Shu’ points of the organs are located, including the Kidney Shu point in the lumbar region. Tapping the occipital region in practices like “Beating the Heavenly Drum” is working along that path. It awakens a circulation of our qi + blood in the cranial cavity, thereby nourishing + activating the ‘Sea of Marrow’ Once again, because marrow is rooted in the Kidney essence, stimulating this region symbolically and functionally supports the kidney/marrow/brain axis as it is understood in this tradition. From a modern day viewpoint, this light percussion creates bone conducted sound waves that resonate through the cranial cavity. Covering over our ears amplifies the internal vibration and reduces external sensory input, which can calm the nervous system and increase inward focus.

It’s a snowy, very cold day here in the far north and I just did the following practice to treat the kidneys and stimulate the marrow to make new life force. Thought I would share it since I love it so much. It’s very simple and takes only about 5 minutes or less : Rub the knees until they are so hot with palm friction it feels like the hand and skin connection will melt beneath you right into the knee area and joint. Here’s a longer explanation on how to do it : First, just retrieve and then massage a little bit of oil onto each knee (i usually use Castor oil with a few drops of rosemary oil added into it). Then, just rub each knee area and especially the top of your knee/kneecap with your palm (or someone can do it to you as you rest, if needed) creating friction until it’s very very hot. You need to go fast enough and long enough that heat is created on skin and penetrates into the joint/knee cap. Breathe in that heat into the leg. Again, fast enough it doesn’t just get warm, but seering hot. You want to intermittently stop to slap both the front and back of your legs, gentle on the front of knee and harder on the back of knee, allowing the bone and qi to wake up and simulate your marrow. That’s it. Try for a few minutes. See how you feel. If handle fine, can do a little longer next time. Permeating. Long enough the inner joint feels it. Slap to awaken on each side. Backs of knee can be slapped or scraped with a tool for lymph there. Breathe it in. Voila. **A note for those with autoimmunity or PEM : go slow as the heat and movement can mobilize a lot and trigger immunity. Go just a minute and see how you do. Build slowly. You can also then follow the anti crash practices on this page like swallowing air practice down to belly and/or pulling in and up in the lower tummy.

Toby the tomcat update: Toby had to go to the vet last week, as he had what seems to have been a burst abscess on his cheek — possibly the relic of a long-ago fight. (Classic tomcat issue, apparently.) He is now on antibiotics and doing very well. He also looks much more relaxed, if still quite scruffy. He's booked in to be neutered and microchipped on Monday 11 May.

@RedPencilScript At least your kid learned that our government is a tyrannical regime that's unaccountable to the population and will actively make our lives worse to enrich themselves, and that we can't do anything about it, short of violent revolution. Never too early for that lesson!

@L_Aurelian214 Indeed. I was looking at the Phil PA Centennial and it's claimed there was a sculpture of Cleopatra that had been "missing" and then found about 1989. It needed some restoration for, among other things, "sugaring". The sculpture is made of white Carrara marble. This is the
