More than 3,500 heroes have received the Congressional Medal of Honor, and as of today, only 61 are alive. And one man’s medal has given him a new purpose in life. wjla.com/news/local/flo…

Medal of Honor🏅 While leading a security detail in Kunar Province, Captain Florent Groberg spotted a man moving suspiciously toward his formation of senior leaders. Without hesitation, he rushed forward and pushed the suspect away discovering a suicide vest. In that split second, Groberg tackled the b0mber, dragging him away from the group. The vest detonated outside the perimeter, saving countless lives. A second b0mber's vest expl0ded prematurely, minimizing further casualties. His quick action, selfless courage, and willingness to risk everything protected his brothers in arms and changed the outcome of that day. For his heroism, Florent Groberg was awarded the Medal of Honor.

“We believe it’s most appropriate to let the recognition of military heroism stand on its own merits, without injecting political perspectives,” said a spokesman for Army Gen. James J. Mingus, who was there the day Florent Groberg tackled a suicide bomber. trib.al/nEynWkx

@LauraLoomer The Medal is A Political. The person wearing it doesn’t have to be. If anyone has earned the right to free speech or to have an opinion it’s a man who threw himself in front of a suicide bomber to save lives. What have you done?

"Americans watch a Medal of Honor ceremony on television thinking that it is a happy or even joyous occasion ... It is in fact a devastating experience. We never wanted the Medal of Honor. We wanted to bring our battle buddies home." -Captain Florent Groberg in #8SecondsOfCourage

He is truly one of the best people on the planet. He’s giving more grace than anyone attacking him deserves.

@LauraLoomer Oh boy… Thirteen years ago today is my Alive Day, the day I nearly lost my life, and four of my brothers, including three Army leaders, never came home. I’ve served under presidents from both parties and will always honor my oath to this country. Yes, I spoke for 60 seconds at the DNC when asked about service and sacrifice, not politics. For me, 8/8 isn’t about parties. It’s about the lives we lost.
