@egg0tomatos I used to think all the bullying and bribery and coverups from higher ups I read about in Korean media/manhwa were just an extreme exaggeration . It’s become abundantly clear that’s not the case.

If I were to read my first book in Chinese what book would you recommend? I want to start with something simple. It doesn't have to be originally written in Chinese. In fact it might be better if I start with something I've already read.

@yushaVAL @ApolloTBL @PRXARCADE Hate to tell you this bro, but any form of media/entertainment is unethical or has shady ties one way or another in this day and age. It’s up to people to choose where to draw the line, and if the line is ewc then good for them. Whataboutism isn’t gonna do anything any favors.

@happilea1 @Pirat_Nation How are offshore wind farms killing whales and dolphins?? You think they jump into the blades or something lmao. Also fun fact China actually bans commercial whaling so not sure where you got this “goes around killing whales part”.

@Pirat_Nation Powered by Offshore wind you say? China is the enemy of whales and dolphins. These offshore windmills kill them but Chinese run around killing whales anyway so I guess everyone will just look away with this as well.

China has launched the world’s first commercial underwater data center powered by offshore wind near Shanghai’s Lingang area. This 24-megawatt facility is now fully operational with nearly 2,000 servers for AI tasks, big data, 5G networks, self-driving cars, and smart robots. The sealed units sit about 10 meters underwater and 10 kilometers offshore next to a large wind farm. More than 95% of the power comes directly from the wind turbines via special cables that reduce power loss, while seawater cools the servers naturally through heat exchangers. This eliminates the need for large cooling systems or fresh water, giving it an energy efficiency rating of about 1.15 compared to 1.5 to 2.0 for typical land data centers. The project progressed rapidly: the deal was signed in June 2025, construction ended by October 2025, tests ran in February 2026, and full service started in mid-May 2026, at a total cost of about 1.6 billion yuan. This solves two major data center problems : high electricity use from AI and heavy water consumption for cooling by combining clean wind power with the sea’s natural cooling.

China has banned Nvidia’s RTX 5090D V2 graphics card and added it to the list of banned imports. The ban came while Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang was in Beijing with the U.S. delegation for high-level meetings. The RTX 5090D V2 is a special China-only version that Nvidia released in August 2025 with 24 GB of memory. It was built to follow strict U.S. export rules. China is pushing hard for self-reliance in computer chips. Even though the card was modified to meet U.S. limits, the country now wants companies to buy homegrown options like Huawei’s Ascend chips instead. Nvidia sales were already low in China, with this ban, they will be even lower.

@morris_que14 Even if this were anywhere close to being true, it’s weird that people think this would naturally make China more amicable to the US and western values. This is a pretty fundamental misunderstanding of how Chinese people work.

Christian missionaries have been saying this since the 90s and still hasn’t happened. anyways, don’t get your hopes up if you think a Christian China would be anything but pro-western. you would get Taiping Heavenly Kingdom with nukes that would fight an apocalyptic war against the ‘heathen’ west instead.

According to sociologist Fenggang Yang, China is on track to reach a staggering 247 million believers by 2030. That kind of unprecedented growth would officially surpass the United States, Mexico, and Brazil.

The official VCT CN Stage 1 Playoffs photo library had thousands of shots from Beijing 🇨🇳 We went through all of them and pulled the 40 that best captured the event: 1 - The VALORANT fanfest, just a 5-minute walk from the VCT CN venue 2 - EDward Gaming moments after winning Stage 1 3 - The VCT CN trophy being delivered by someone in an Aston Martin racing suit 4 - All 12 VCT CN mascots gathered outside the venue

🇨🇳 EDG ZmjjKK: "I think only after experiencing many failures do you realize just how hard-earned victory really is. That's why I cherish this moment [winning Stage 1] even more. I hope I can become better, I hope the team can become better, and I hope we can keep working hard together. I think failure is something that is honestly very painful. When people go through failure, it can feel really painful and unbearable. Because of failure, people may do something extreme, or do things they did not properly think through at all. My advice is when you experience failure, I hope you can always believe in yourself, do what you wanna do, block out some of the negative voices, and just focus on what you wanna do."

@AndrewJamesFilm It’s alarming how much AI is affecting the younger generations too. Pretty much every TA I’ve talked to at my uni, even for introductory and non STEM classes, has mentioned how people don’t try to actually properly solve problems anymore and instead expect instant results.

No, there is a serious problem with you and your ilk pretending that AI is going to give everyone this amazing future with zero proof. Younger generations can’t get jobs and are priced out of home ownership. Inflation is through the roof and you are parroting tech billionaires.

There is a serious problem with this new generation. Former Google CEO encouraged students to embrace Ai at the 2026 University of Arizona Commencement Ceremony, and was met with a stadium full of boo’s. You heard that right, these kids are embracing the permanent underclass.

@MDeanCase @TheKanehB @TT15248526 Tf does land size have anything to do with population 😂. India is smaller than both, you think they only got 350 million too? And yes China controls where people can live with the hukou system but that’s only cause there’s too many people lmao.

@8bit_soldier @TheKanehB @TT15248526 China isn't much bigger in land size than the US Continuous 48 states. Then when you realize that China keeps most of its population under control as of where they can live and go, it begins to make more sense.

China’s population is 1.4B people, America has 320m people. China has been under a surveillance state for decades- 600M surveillance cameras, they can identify citizens w facial recognition w a 98.5% accuracy and they record every move by their citizens Yet China only has 450 data centers What data is the US gathering that would justify the US to need 5,000 data centers - 15x what China has, with only a quarter of the population?

He’s bringing his own energy, and the water is recycled. Your number is a bit over exaggerated. It does take a lot of water initially. But all these companies that own the data centers are bringing their own energy and it’s overrun will go to public use, win number one: on the water, they are all saying they will contribute to engineering investments to help capture more snow runoff. Once the initial water is captured, it is recirculated. It’s not a constant draw on the water source. This is like people who say horrible things about fossil fuels and energy companies even tho we capture our carbon and most are carbon neutral. Or the electric car crowd. Who yet need to charge their cars via the same old ways and the batteries have no safe disposal. If we do not build these data centers, we allow China to pass us by on the AI compute competition. That’s not something we can let happen, or want to let happen. There’s a lot of construction and temp jobs that come with these centers, and even quite a few long term jobs. Let’s think forward and not just regurgitate the same out of context narratives and absolutely false facts. People like you are the reason we don’t have new nuclear in America when it’s the cleanest energy source we have and with today’s technology. It’s about the safest as well. But hey, donations and politics always hurt the reality of America. All the regulation we have and yet China an India continue to pollute , we let silly narratives ruin moving forward in America . This is Al Gore and all the climate hoaxers , who said the world would be over by now and the arctic ice already melted. None of it came true and the clowns come up with new schemes that have doomsday scenarios coming in 10 years that will scare up donations then the goal post will be moved again. Blahhhhhh so frustrating people buy into this shit without doing real research, not just asking google and clicking on the first article that’s pushed by a donor lol

@cpratheraz @CarlHigbie It’s not really a mutually exclusive problem. You can advance ai/tech while also furthering environmentally friendly policies or building with it in mind. The main problem is that right now the people at the top don’t have that mindset.
