@feminist_tokyo Crunchyroll is mostly the only option for a variety in the West and I refuse to give them any more money. They censor, mistranslate and add in their own political agenda. I mostly don't watch anime anymore but read official translations of light novels from time to time

海賊版ねぇ。クリエイターとしては「ふざけんなー(」ﾟДﾟ)」」と言いたいんだけど。 海外の人が「高くて買えないんだ」って気持ちは分かるんだよね。私も金ない学生時代はひたすら立ち読みしてたからね。あんなの海賊版と同じだよ。 だからあんまり「絶対ダメ！」とは言いにくい。 ただ、海賊版で読んでる人には言っておきたい。 クリエイターは作品が売れてお金が入らないと次がないんだよ。海賊版からは作者に一円もお金入って来ないんだよ。だからその作品が気に入ったならなるべく、お金が出来てからでいいから、正規品を買ってくれ。 海賊版で読めるのが当然だと思わないでくれ。それはクリエイターに寄生してる海賊版運営者を太らせるだけの行為だ。クリエイターは痩せ細って続きが出せなくなる。 そして海賊版見付けたら読んだ後にでもいいから通報して潰してくれ。海賊版経営者は業界の寄生虫で癌だ。潰さないと業界が死ぬ。 頼むよ本当に。

If Japan made Steam but for manga and anime, it would be a massive success and piracy would be essentially dead. Plus Japan could maintain full creative freedom.

@man_deer @6_e_onibus @huliotebenado I don't think this translated well. And I am not saying piracy is just, but it is inevitable, and frankly negligible when it comes to harm done to creators. Look no further than Steam and Gabe Newell. Piracy is a service problem.
