one awesome thing about America in 2026 is that if I were to tell you the Rutgers University School of Engineering removed its graduation ceremony keynote speaker, I could stop the story right there & you could fill in every detail with precise accuracy (link below)

Actions like the one planned for tonight by PAL-Awda outside Park East Synagogue are intended to create fear in the hearts of Jewish New Yorkers and stigmatize our community. This is part and parcel of the rising antisemitism that we are facing. Whatever your politics, whatever your views, this is not the New York way and should be condemned. The right to free speech, even when it is condemnable, is sacrosanct. So, too, is the safety of New Yorkers. I am grateful to the NYPD for the work that I am confident they will do this evening to protect those entering Park East Synagogue and make sure that a protest does not turn into a gauntlet of hate through which Jews must pass.

The pre-school at Park East Synagogue was forced to close early because it could not ensure safe dismissal. When children can’t safely leave school, something is deeply wrong. This is unacceptable.

ALL OUT TO PROTEST the "Great Israel Real Estate Event" 🗓 Tues, May 5 ⏰️ 6:30 pm 📍 163 East 67th Street New York, NY 10065 All out to protest the illegal sale of #StolenPalestinianLand! We will not be silent as ethnic cleansing is being actively promoted in our neighborhoods.

NOW: Two hours ahead of the synagogue hosting a stolen Land auction sale, NYPD has deployed nearly every unit and barricades. From 66th to 67th, sidewalks have been shutdown and barricaded. SRG is present in the dozens. Cop presence is higher than usual. Both sidewalks blocked.

Update: I got into the Israel real estate event at Park East Synagogue. Inside I saw at least one table advertising properties in the West Bank, including Kfar Eldad and Karnei Shomron.

Last month, the City Council passed two bills related to the constitutional right to protest — one for houses of worship, and one for educational institutions. Today, I’m letting one bill go into effect, and vetoing the other. I’d like to take a moment to explain why. As Mayor, I will always make sure the right to protest, prayer and protection are guaranteed for every New Yorker.
