This morning we gathered at the Blue Bell Hill memorial site to honour Graham, Mark, and Tony with a moment of silence. It was a deeply moving moment followed by our crew flying over as a mark of respect. Graham, Mark and Tony and their loved ones will be in our hearts forever.

Nelson brayed on Wednesday, which he has done twice in his life, and both previous times it was about hay. This was not about hay. You have to understand Nelson to understand the size of it. He is a small grey donkey who came free with a horse and has spent every day since assessing the world and finding almost none of it worth a reaction. A pheasant out of the hedge: beneath comment. A carrier bag on the wind: management's problem. The farrier, the vet, Martin the postman at the gate every single morning: all filed, long ago, under fine. Nelson does not spend adrenaline. He has a lifetime's supply precisely because he has never once dipped into it for anything that did not concern the hay. Hector is the one who comes apart. Seventeen years a Cavalry Black, seventeen hands of trained composure, and still, in a quiet field, undone by small things with no rules to them. And undone completely, every time, by the one thing that has never had a rule: Nelson leaving the field. On Wednesday it was the other way round. Hector went down in the morning and did not get up cleanly. Nothing dramatic to look at, a big old horse struggling on wet ground to fold his legs back under him, the way big old horses sometimes do, more indignity than danger. But he was down, and he was working at it, and he was not managing it, and the field was suddenly a place where the large warm reliable thing was not upright. Nelson stood over him. Then Nelson, who assesses everything and hurries for nothing and does not raise the alarm because in his considered view nothing is ever worth waking a tired horse for, raised the alarm. The full cracked bugle of it, flung down the lane, on and on, a donkey who does not do this doing this, until the farmer came out of the house at a run, because a silent donkey suddenly loud means something is wrong in a way a noisy one never could. The farmer got Hector up. It was fine. It was, in the end, a big horse and a bad patch of ground and a bruised dignity, nothing more. Nelson stopped the moment Hector was on his feet. He has not mentioned it since. He went back to the hay. He has assessed the incident and, by every sign available, filed it under dealt with. But he broke his own rule for it. In a whole life of spending no adrenaline on anything, he spent all of it at once, on the one thing he has never admitted to caring about. Hector is grazing this morning, upright, enormous, fine. Nelson is beside him, in the dry corner, first at the hay, saying nothing. He would tell you it was about the hay.

So Ann’s murder was literally caught on camera. Her head was smashed in from being hit 21 times with a hammer, and initially the stupid cnuts responding thought she’d fallen and hit her head? 🤨 Then when the deranged animal was arrested, he had newspaper cuttings about Farage and Reform etc. all over the place, and the police initially claimed it wasn’t political? 🤨 Then we saw them try to divert attention with the dodgy arrests of 12, where they raided homes with smoke bombs and guns while children were present, just to get a headline and divert from what had happened to Ann. 🤨 I’m sorry, but the police are sick cunts and almost seem complicit in this shit. The more you consider the timeline, the more absurd it becomes. It’s either shocking incompetence or these people are more corrupt, captured and sick than we realised, and frighteningly I believe it’s the latter. Major major red flags.

I can’t stop thinking about what poor Ann would have gone through, as we know she was a fighter and wouldn’t have gone down easy 😔 It’s truly awful what happened to her, and all those who celebrated her death in the early days you are scum and part of the reason Ann was murdered, as her murderer had the same sick ideology as you!

Well, it’s official, this washed up old traffic cop has a Degree in history and religion. I am so bloody proud. I completed one module whilst receiving chemo treatment and I wrote essays hooked up to a drip. I did it mum, I did it.

Hector lay down and slept in the open field on Wednesday, flat out on his side in the sun with his legs stretched and his eye shut, and the man who used to ride him stood at the gate and could not speak for a minute. You have to know what a parade horse is to understand the size of this. Hector spent seventeen years as a Cavalry Black, and a horse on ceremonial duty learns that the world is bands and crowds and gunfire and flags coming at him from every side, and that his job is to carry all of it without moving a muscle he was not told to move. He learned to hold. He learned that lying down in the open, defenceless, eye shut, is the one thing a prey animal never does unless it is certain, deep in the old wiring, that nothing is coming. For his first two years in the field he did not lie down like that. He dozed standing, the way a horse dozes when the horse is still, somewhere in its own head, on duty. The man who groomed him and rode him through all those years still comes. Not once, as a neat ending. Regularly, whenever the leave and the long drive allow, which is more often than a busy man has any reason to manage. He brings nothing. He stands at the gate. Sometimes Hector comes over and sometimes he does not. On Wednesday the man arrived to find his horse asleep on the ground in the sunshine, guarded by a small grey donkey who had assessed the field, found it acceptable, and taken up the watch so that the big soft veteran beside him did not have to. The man leaned on the gate. Nelson looked at the man. Nelson did not raise the alarm, because there was, in Nelson's considered assessment, nothing here worth waking a tired horse for.
