Ending the week on a high! Scuse the pun! Yesterday I had the pleasure to share a stage with Mandy Hickson for the inaugural Woman in the Air Conference! To say it was nostalgic headed back to Cranwell is an understatement for us both! Spending the afternoon chatting with the incredible aviators following in our footsteps made me so proud. Seeing a sea of females in flying suits, with some brilliant nicknames on their brevets made me so jealous…. It’s days like these that make me miss it the most! 😢 There simply weren’t events like this or as many woman flyers back when Mandy and I were in. I truly hope this event takes off (another pun) and grows year on year! But what full circle moment for me, not only to be back where my RAF career began, but to be there with my mentor who has encouraged and championed me into my speaking career, simply amazing. 🙏🫶Woman need to lift one another up (yes another pun) when we are still in such a minority! What should our tour names be!? Big bird (Mandy’s callsign) and Little Chick? I was going to suggest the ‘Windy Woman’ being as we have Tornado and Chinook to our names…but let’s not go there! 🤦‍♀️😆 Oh and they left me unsupervised in College Hall and I didn’t even steal anything…losing my crewman touch! 🤣😜 #feelinguplifted #windbeneathmywings

The "Headache" that kills in 24 hours.🧵 As a doctor, this is the one diagnosis that genuinely scares me. Bacterial Meningitis doesn't give you days to "wait and see." It gives you hours. By the time you realize it's not just a flu, it’s often too late. 👉Stop scrolling and memorize these 3 clinical red flags: 1. The Fused Neck: This isn't a "stiff muscle" from sleeping wrong. If you have a fever and literally cannot touch your chin to your chest - that is Nuchal Rigidity. It’s an emergency. Period. 2. The "Glass Test" Rash: If you see tiny purple pin-pricks on the skin, press a clear glass firmly against them. If the spots don't fade/disappear under the glass, your blood is leaking. That’s Septicemia. Run to the ER. 3. Agonizing Photophobia: It’s not just "bright lights are annoying." It’s a physical, painful wince at a smartphone screen or a bedside lamp. 👉How to actually stay safe? 1. Mask up in crowds: It’s a respiratory drop infection. If there’s an outbreak in your school/hostel, a mask is your best friend. 2. Stop sharing everything: Vapes, spoons, water bottles, cigarettes. If their saliva is on it, the bacteria is on it. 3. Hygiene: Wash your hands like your life depends on it. 4. Vaccines: Check your records for MenACWY/MenB when you have a minute. It’s the ultimate insurance policy.

My confidence and self worth haven’t been great lately and I just wanted to say thats ok so other people who suffer with depression or anxiety know that it’s ok to feel like that. I’m CEO of Happy Doggo and most people in positions like mine have to hide stuff like this. Most people in all positions In life do actually. It’s really hard to admit you don’t feel the best about yourself. That’s why I just write it down as I feel because maybe it’ll help someone. Between our team, partners and everything wrapped up in what I do there are probably 100+ people who rely on me. Add in social media, donors and everything else and that’s a massive happy facade to keep up. I’ve learnt though that it’s ok to say you are not ok. At the moment I’m going through the motions. Still working hard and trying my best but I feel a bit worthless. No self worth at all. I also have imposter syndrome. I know I can jus read the comments here or look at the dogs saved and I should be happy but it doesn’t bring me anything. I look in the mirror at the moment and can’t even really look at myself. No particular reason or spark for this. As people who suffer know it just comes in a dark wave like a fog. I could easily share some happy dog photos and smile and pretend I felt amazing. But I’d rather be honest and try to help others. I have untold amounts of support and good luck that many of you dont. So if you're feeling down or a little rough right now, that's okay because so am I, and it's absolutely fine to say that. Have a lovely weekend and be kind to each other ❤️
