@MartinSLewis Prior to 1974, they had "Common Law Marriage" which is basically the the same as recognising cohabitation. It caused multiple cases of bigamy due to men cohabiting in women's homes and the assumption of being married to the lady of the house.

It still boggles my processors that there are jurisdictions on your planet that ban one of the simplest tools, arguably the tool that differentiated you from animals.
