🆕‼️ Sprint Running Mechanics & Hamstring Injury Risk ‼️🆕 Our latest research in @BJSM_BMJ explores whether sprint mechanics are linked to past and future hamstring injuries in professional footballers. What did we find? And why does this matter? 🧵👇 bjsm.bmj.com/content/early/…

🚨 Groin Pain in Athletes 🚨 Groin pain is one of the most common injuries in high-intensity team sports, especially in football. The constant sprinting, sudden direction changes, and lateral movements put immense strain on the adductor muscles, increasing the risk of injury. 🔹 Symptoms |🔹Types |🔹 Prevention |🔹 Treatment | 🔹 Return to Play 🗣️: @AdamWeirSports - Sports Medicine Physician

New study available open access online now: authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S14… We measured eccentric hip adductor strength during the Copenhagen adduction exercise with good test re-test reliability, using relatively inexpensive equipment, which does not require tester strength or skill👇

Association Between Injury Mechanisms and Magnetic Resonance Imaging Findings in Rectus Femoris Injuries in 105 Professional Football Players… Kicking seems to be an important mechanism related to complete ruptures and injuries occurring at the proximal free tendon, Sprinting was the other most common mechanism but was never associated with injury to the proximal free tendon. 🔗Full paper 👉 pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34050059/

Groin Pain Classification in Athletes | Doha Agreement 🖊️📄 Defined clinical entities for groin pain: adductor-related, iliopsoas-related, inguinal-related and pubic-related groin pain. ▶️ Iliopsoas-related groin pain iliopsoas-related groin pain is more likely if there is pain on resisted hip flexion AND/OR pain on stretching the hip flexors. ▶️ Inguinal-related groin pain Pain location in the inguinal canal region AND tenderness of the inguinal canal. No palpable inguinal hernia is present. inguinal-related groin pain is more likely if the pain is aggravated with resistance testing of the abdominal muscles OR on Valsalva/cough/sneeze. ▶️ Pubic-related groin pain Local tenderness of the pubic symphysis and the immediately adjacent bone. The group felt that there was no particular resistance test that specifically provoked symptoms related to pubic-related groin pain that could be used in conjunction with palpation. 🎯 The Doha agreement is the most standardized, clinically focused classification system⬇️ 🔗 Full Paper 👉 @BJSM_BMJ 👉 bjsm.bmj.com/content/49/12/…

Paper’s out!!!! 📍No significant between-group differences in eccentric and isometric adductor torque!! 📍Does the total repetition number have to go higher??? 📍The minimal effective dose for adductor torque increases following exercise is still to be determined!!!

🔓Return to sport after criteria-based rehabilitation of Acute Adductor injuries in male athletes: A prospective cohort study. 🔗Article 👉bit.ly/2P4RnUL 📂Treatment Protocol PDF 👉 bit.ly/3z3yZqd Athletes with an MRI grade 0-2 adductor injury were clinically pain-free after approximately 2 weeks and returned to full team training after approximately 3 weeks. Most athletes with an MRI grade 3 adductor injury were pain-free and returned to full team training within 3 months. Meeting the clinically pain-free criteria resulted in fewer reinjuries compared with not meeting the criteria ✍️@aserner @AdamWeirSports @Jltol @KThorborg @PerHolmich @roaldotten
