Congratulations to Noemi Lois, Professor of Ophthalmology at Queen’s, who has been honoured with The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh King James IV Professorship. This honour recognises Professor Lois’ dedication to her field and specifically celebrates the advancements she made as Chief Investigator of DIAMONDS (Diabetic Macular Oedema and Diode Subthreshold micropulse laser), a large multi-centre clinical trial. "I am thoroughly delighted to receive this very precious award, which means a lot me. A key goal for the Kabgayi Eye Hospital is to train more local eye surgeons and secure it's financial sustainability. I have been impressed with the positive attitude, team work, and vocation to serve. I am so grateful for the opportunity to visit and learn.

Our friend Dr Michael Mikhail, until recently a NHS consultant ophthalmologist and retinal surgeon in North West of England has moved with his family and doing a lot of good. There's only 2 retinal surgeons in the country...

Visiting Kabgayi Eye Hospital in Rwanda, serving the local population 90 minutes from the capital Kigali. A very rewarding experience. Dr Theophile medical director, is a superb surgeon and leader. He has built a centre of excellence, treating all eye conditions
