Catawba Valley Community College’s Furniture Academy prepares students from Catawba Correctional Center for jobs in our furniture and advanced manufacturing industries. This is a great example of how colleges and universities can effectively prepare people for successful reentry.

Josh and I are happy for the incarcerated men who graduated from Catawba Valley Community College’s Furniture Academy this week. They completed over 1,500 hours of hands-on training in one of NC’s oldest industries, gaining employable skills. Congratulations, everyone!

The Lumbee Tribe has finally been officially recognized by Congress and they're set to receive the full federal benefits that come with that recognition. This is a milestone more than a century in the making. I co-sponsored the Lumbee Fairness Act when I served in Congress and I thank the bipartisan coalition that got this over the finish line.
