There is a lot of talk about reviving Christian genre fiction in the vein of Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. Yes 100% we need more of those. But we also need good, grounded, relatable and non-caricature stories of faith and being a Christian. We can’t let books like Yesteryear infect our culture unanswered. The enemy is not being subtle. We shouldn’t either.

@wylfcen That is kind of what I assumed. Where did the word "wer" go for men? Was it a sort of gendered form of the old English word for "human" and the genders corresponded to woman or man (wīf or wer)

@ABTimothyAuthor Well, it also meant wife, you just called your wife “my woman” (mīn wīf). Similarly, women called their husbands “my man” (mīn wer).

We must go back to calling waiters “beer knights.” A waitress, and I’m not making this up, was called a “beer wife.” (Originally, knight meant boy or servant, and wife meant any woman.)
