Russian propagandist Solovyev says everyone who's complaining about Internet shutdowns in Russia is being used to start a revolution. "Are you trying to repeat 1917?" he asks (the year bolsheviks took power in Russia, followed by a civil war and generally a very tumultuous time). Putin is clinging to power, thus, he invests great efforts to convince Russians that the worst thing that could happen to them is a revolution and the resulting chaos. Yesterday, Russian communist leader Zyuganov spoke along the same lines. Promises of stability are one of the key pillars on which Putin grounds his power. 'It might be bad, but at least it's stable' is the social contract he has with the Russians. Now, any more or less famous Russian speaking up about Internet shutdowns can be blamed for wanting to start up a rebellion.
