Seniors built Alberta's communities. Alberta Municipalities has seven active resolutions that relate to seniors. Among them, we have resolutions on emergency shelters, home care support in lodges, protection for vulnerable tenants, and access to mental health supports ABmunis is committed to helping our seniors age in their chosen communities. That's why we are committed to advocating for increased FCSS funding. #ABseniors #SeniorsWeek

@AB_mcmc @BizCouncilAB We are always happy to support Albertans' efforts to build thriving communities. ABmunis was founded on the idea of bringing community leaders together to share ideas, information, and solutions, so we were delighted to be able to support this event!

Alberta Municipalities collaborated with the Rural Municipalities of Alberta and Alberta Association of Community Peace Officers (@_aacpo) to advocate for presumed PTSD coverage for Community Peace Officers (CPOs) in Alberta. CPOs face risks and psychological trauma in their roles. However, when seeking Worker’s Compensation Board (WCB) support, their PTSD is not presumed to be work-related because they’re not considered first responders in legislation. This hinders their access to support. Both, ABmunis and @RuralMA have ongoing resolutions on this topic. Learn more about it here: abmunis.ca/system/files/2… #ABmunis

@ABmunis I received notification of access to the portal yesterday. Upon logging in I found that there's none of the correspondence, proposal info, or provided documentation from contractors anywhere to be found. No monetary amounts, nothing.

Hey @ABmunis what is happening with this program? It takes weeks and sometimes you get zero responses from questions. I can never tell status. Portal was supposed to be up on the 30th of April, then the 5th, now it's the 8th and it's still not up and there aren't any updates.

ABmunis member-municipalities adopted a resolution in 2023 to advocate for @YourAlberta to give Community Peace Officers (CPOs) suffering PTSD the same @WCBAlberta coverage as other police officers. Why? Because 50% of public safety officers have some form of mental health concern. CPOs deserve the same supports for the same issues. @RuralMA @_aacpo

I had the privilege of speaking in Edmonton today at the @ABmunis conference as FCM’s First Vice-President. A key priority was the ongoing Canada-U.S. tariff discussions, where I emphasized the need to keep rural communities at the table. I also had the opportunity to continue productive conversations with RMA President Kara Westerlund and MLAs on the challenges and opportunities facing municipalities. Local governments are essential to strong, resilient communities. They support workers, businesses, and residents while driving economic growth. These discussions reinforced the importance of a united municipal voice during this critical time. #ABMunis #CDNMuni @FCM_online
