Like how if you don’t vote for a candidate they don’t get any points. Maybe this is more of a representation of what voters want?

Also disenfranchises voters, limiting their choices and is more vulnerable to corruption!

Albuquerque City Council is debating RANKED CHOICE VOTING tonight. Look, voting should be simple: one person, one vote. Not rank your top 5 like it’s your favorite pizza toppings and we’ll circle back in a few rounds. Ranked Choice Voting turns Election Day into a bracket tournament nobody asked for. Your vote can get shuffled around like a deck of cards until—surprise!—we have a winner. That’s not clarity. And now the democrats are telling us this is about “saving money.” Saving money? From the same folks who’ve ballooned the city budget to $1.5 BILLION? Suddenly they found their inner accountant? That alone should make you raise an eyebrow. If it takes longer to explain how the votes are counted than it does to actually vote, hard pass. One person. One vote.

@darrenPwhite Because you know damn well the turnout was low for the special election, since local elections are low turn outs to start with. Why would we keep using a method that the voters obviously don’t like or turn out for? At least with ranked choice voting we’re not voting twice.

Meaning the system worked just fine. The top two candidates faced off in a runoff a month after the regular election. So why reengineer the system? ABQ needs to focus on the public financing system. When the incumbent mayor is the only person to qualify in the last two elections...

Rank Choice Voting: Candidate A: 40% Candidate B: 35% Candidate C: 25% Candidate C gets eliminated and their votes get “redistributed.” If most of Candidate C’s voters ranked B as their second choice, then: Candidate B might jump above 50% and win So even though A had the most first-choice votes, B can still win because of the votes cast by candidate C, who was eliminated!! What kind of chicken-bone voodoo BS is that.

Due to the Democrat’s Shutdown, I’ve asked the Financial Clerk of the Senate to hold my salary. It’s not right for Members of Congress to be paid if the working men and women of DHS aren’t.

To my current active duty troops, please don’t do this. It may or may not work. If it doesn’t work, you won’t like the outcome, you’re still stuck in the military, but with less pay, reduced rank, and working for free with extra duty. If it does, you lose a lot.

Progressive Democrats passed a law to ban ICE detention facilities. Otero County just renewed its contract anyway. Because this isn’t some abstract policy out there. This is hundreds of jobs. This is real paychecks. This is a local economy that depends on it. Democrats knew that. They just didn’t care. It’s easy to pass a bill when you’re not the one dealing with the consequences.
