A Call to College

Did you know we offer assistance to Newark High School graduates who now attend OSU-Newark and COTC? A Call to College staff are on site once a month during the school year to meet with students, share resources, and continue to build community. We love seeing our alumni thrive!

College offer letters don't have a standard template, which can make it difficult to compare apples and oranges. We help Newark City Schools students sift through it all and figure out their bottom line.

Heritage 8th graders wrapped up the last of their lessons for "College, Careers, and Cash" this week. They explored Career Clusters and took an assessment to help them find careers that fit them!

Our 4th grade program culminated with a trip to the Works! Our Savvy students explore the museum, plan a party with a budget and watch a play. #themoreyoulearnthemoreyouearn

Our juniors are ready for the ACT today! Many have been preparing by studying, working with teachers, and attending workshops like ACT Turbo Camp! We were excited to offer 2 ACT Turbo Camp sessions this year. We know these students are set up for success!

Last week, Newark High School Juniors and Seniors joined us on a College Campus visit to The Ohio State University at Newark and Central Ohio Technical College ! We are so grateful to have access to these opportunities for our students.

Heritage Middle School students were able to explore Denison University campus last week! Campus visits allow students to picture themselves in college and give them real life context for what college is like. The delicious menu in the dining hall is a great feature too!

Newark High School juniors braved the cold this past Monday to prepare for the ACT! ACT Turbo Camp helps students feel prepared and gives them the tools and strategies to be successful!

Our annual Grads Give Back event was a success! Our Last Dollar Grant recipients volunteered to write thank you notes to our donors and volunteers. We love checking in with alumni and seeing them give back to our wonderful supporters.

College Talk is one of our annual event that allows our Last Dollar Grant recipients to give back. Alumni took time out of their holiday break last week to speak with Newark High School students about college life! Their candor and transparency was so impressive and informative.
