@GenesHealth, Sam Hodgson, @Sarah_Finer & I are very pleased to share the 1st study using partitioned polygenic scores to understand age of T2D onset, GDM, lean T2D & 💊 response. All this in a south Asian cohort – typically under-represented in 🧬 research @QMUL_WIPH @QMUL_CEG

Pleased to see our perspective piece out in @ScienceMagazine Published along side the huge multi-ancestry GWAS effort in MVP from Verma et al (science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…), @SFatumo and I discuss the importance of increased diversity in genomic studies.

Excited to share our new perspective @ScienceMagazine We highlight the need for broader representation in genomic research to ensure global health equity The new MVP cohort shows progress with 29% non-EUR ancestry, but more efforts are needed in LMICs science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

#Fasting shaped human evolution and is practiced by billions of people for #health and #religious reasons, but what happens to our body beyond shifting energy sources? What happens to our bodies in *7 days* w/o any food? nature.com/articles/s4225…

🚨preprint alert🚨 We demonstrate how #Proteomics can improve preventive screening across >50 diseases in @uk_biobank with ~50k participants Massive improvements for severe diseases like multiple myeloma or non-Hodgkin lymphoma with ≤5(!) proteins medrxiv.org/content/10.110…

How do we control our blood sugar after a meal or sugary drink? A new study has found genetic clues to help explain how this process can break down and increase our risk of developing type 2 diabetes. @IMS_MRL @MRC_Epid bit.ly/43MSvRu

We couple this genetic analysis with functional follow-up of genes at the loci we identify in cellular assays and identify new genes implicated in insulin-stimulated glucose uptake and GLUT4 trafficking 5/6

Really inspiring work! And such a pleasure to to (virtually) see a former MSc student @AC_Williamson present a talk!! I'm a very proud ex-supervisor @tobyandrew3 😁

Excellent first session at the #metabolicmultiomics23! Started with two absolute tour de force examples of #V2F studies by @annagloyn and @MelinaClaussnit, showing the work it takes to dissect the mol mechanisms of single loci, but also shedding light into future work at scale.

Many people are on a path to T2D without knowing, as they are being missed by current screening guidelines - isolated impaired glucose tolerance (iIGT). We identified a novel #proteomics test to help identify them. nature.com/articles/s4159…
