@danielbenami @kenanmalik @ObserverUK Daniel, what is your response to the _content_ of Kenan Malik's article? It is dangerously subjective to invite the reader to judge if the author's criticism of Israel is in 'good faith' or rather, underpinned by the intent of "demonisation".

@kenanmalik @ObserverUK This article is based on a common misconception. Israel's supporters do not generally object to criticism in itself. Their complaint is to the gross double standards applied to it. Underlying these is not criticism but demonisation.

Thank you @segm_ebm for upholding basic research standards and refusing to be cowed by unfounded smear campaigns. And indeed, for defending basic humane values that apply to all of us.
SEGM@segm_ebm

SEGM has long ignored attacks like SPLC’s “hate group” label, as most professionals have recognized them as politicized actions to shut down scientific inquiry. As these old attacks gained recent traction, we've decided to publicly address them. /1 segm.org/SPLC-SEGM-Resp…

And as an endocrinologist (who has been President of the Society for Endocrinology ) I can confirm that both JK Rowling and John Pike are completely scientifically correct on this matter
Emma Vigeland@EmmaVigeland

Imane is biologically female and identifies as a woman, but Rowling's tweet calling her a man is still up. Why? TERFs are the real misogynists. They reinforce notions of "protecting" traditional femininity by policing who is/isn't female within inherently patriarchal binaries.

@1jorgeferrer The contention is whether science is able to define sex as a binary category or not. This is what @StephenORahilly is defending, not (alleged) name calling.

@tobyandrew3 Hi Toby, this is about a thread stating that this boxer, who (as I have read) was been born and raised with a female phenotype, is in reality a mysogenous abusing man, followed by another tweet stating that this statement was scientifically correct. That is the contention.

@1jorgeferrer If you mean that Khelif could have a female gender (raised as a girl), but have a male sex (XY karyotype) that is true. However the contention here is not gender, but that an XY male person will have a male physical advantage.

The whole notion that organizers must ensure that no one feels “unsafe” at an event because of views expressed is nonsense. People constantly express views that are offensive to other people. If that is forbidden, freedom of expression is meaningless./1 filia.org.uk/latest-news/20…

The UKRI proposal for REF2028 to include 25% EDI values in the assessment of research may be well meaning but will further undermine merit-based research & academic freedom. Please read & consider adding your signature: nms.kcl.ac.uk/lucaf/viewdocu…
