We got a bill from 13's school for $50 for reportedly damaging her school laptop. 13 claims it's normal wear & tear and is urging us to contest the charge. I'm just going to pay it. The lesson to my child here is Always Stand Up For Yourself And Fight the System Unless It's $50 or Less and You Know Your Child is a Great Kid But She Actually Does Break a Lot of Stuff and Not for Nothing, You're Tired and Also You Haven't Finished Your Taxes Yet, Stupud Taxes.

Distracted from distraction by distraction...

"Family Plot" was released on this day in 1976. Incredibly entertaining comedy/thriller from director Alfred Hitchcock and screenwriter Ernest Lehman (who adapted the Victor Canning novel.) Highlights: Terrific performances (especially the underrated William Devane); engaging John Williams score. The final Alfred Hitchcock film was a success with audiences, grossing over three times its budget at the box office. While I don't consider it a masterpiece like Hitchcock's penultimate picture ("Frenzy"), I have always found "Family Plot" to be an engaging and fun movie.

The main character in my books is former SWAT, but I've never worked special ops. I did find myself telling a guy, "Gotta sharpen the saw, bro" upon entering the police gym recently. Probably should have first cleared that one with the tactical community.
