Expect temporary parking impacts in the Ambleside and Dundarave business areas the week of March 23 due to street tree pruning. This work helps support tree health, improve visibility and sightlines, and enhance streetscape aesthetics. Learn more: westvancouver.ca/street-trees

West Vancouver Police Department@WestVanPolice

Whether you’re headed home late at night or up before dawn for an early morning shift, you can expect to see #WestVanPolice officers out on foot, helping keep #WestVancouver safe. Starting last fall, WVPD stepped up proactive patrols in the Dundarave, Horseshoe Bay, and Ambleside business districts to provide additional public safety support and connect people in need with appropriate assistance. So while you may not see us, we’re here and ready to respond if you need help. #WestVan #PublicSafety #CommunitySafety

Small businesses across BC say they’re at a breaking point. New data shows BC small businesses are suffering the worst sales decline in the country. Meanwhile, the NDP government is dismissing those numbers and insisting BC is actually leading the country in small business growth. Tell that to the business owners who are shutting down. To the ones dealing with rising violence, property damage, and costs that keep climbing while support from government falls short. This NDP may want to argue with the numbers, but small businesses are living the consequences. #bcpoli

@MarksGonePublic Actually, during our renewal process, several of our members said they support paying the BIA levy as they actually see a return on their investment through beatification, sidewalk repairs, tree lighting, advocacy, events, murals, etc.

Think Over News:"The Light shines in the darkness"
WV taxpayers are already overburdened paying taxes for increasingly exorbitant WV Staff salaries (effectively negotiated by the NDP) and cannot also pay to validate parking on behalf of local businesses. Any effected businesses should validate their own customers’ parking. Maybe work out a bulk rate with the District. Neither can WV taxpayers pay to maintain our waterfront buildings and parks to accommodate high density traffic from NS and Metro that they were not designed to handle in terms of garbage and building maintenance. Also, the reason ppl come to Ambleside (verified by Trip Advisor) is because it is peaceful and can you connect with nature - protected by environmental laws we are obliged to enforce. WV wants to keep Ambleside a village and not have it end up another tragedy of a once beautiful waterfront community turned into an unmaintained, noisy area, that has driven off wildlife against environmental laws – to benefit a handful of business owners who may or may not live in WV, much less Ambleside.

A recent BIABC survey shows non-violent repeat crime is quietly hurting BC’s main streets - and much of it goes unreported. We’ve asked @NinaKriegerBC and @terryyungyvr for a meeting to discuss practical, coordinated solutions. Read letter: buff.ly/phFj35g

@SeanVancouver @NorthShoreNews The sports teams that use the park facilities already pay user fees for the privilege. Perhaps seasonal pay parking or better enforcement in the commercial area would helps but it’s so close to the commercial area so should to be looked at differently than the other WV parks.

@NorthShoreNews Reality is many come from North Van or elsewhere while West Van has subsidized and cared for their recreation. Origin communities by and large all have pay parking. Parking is a revenue capture to offset out of municipality use against budget allotment for parks.
