Most stablecoin activity is now domestic, not cross-border. According to @a16zcrypto, intra-country activity grew from roughly half of payment volume in early 2024 to nearly 75% by early 2026. Non-USD variants are picking up alongside, from Brazil's BRLA to euro stablecoins under MiCA, with early pilots across Asia. Stablecoins are becoming local money, which means the chains hosting them have to align with local regulations. One clear example of this shift is DDSC, the UAE dirham-backed stablecoin hosted on ADI Chain.

Applications on ADI Chain share a clear structure. The state that has to stay tamper-resistant lives onchain, where anyone can verify it. Logic that just needs to be easy to maintain runs offchain. Digital identity is a real-world example of this. A government agency writes each verified credential onchain, and a bank opening an account or a hospital confirming eligibility checks validity through a zero-knowledge proof instead of querying a central registry. The pattern works at institutional scale because of what sits underneath it: → Ethereum-level security, inherited through @zksync's ZK Stack → Built to Ethereum standards, so existing developer tooling applies directly Every transaction on that infrastructure runs on $ADI, whether it's a user interaction at the frontend or a final settlement anchored back to Ethereum. Most of the growth came from corridors where legacy rails are slow and expensive. Cross-border payroll, remittances, B2B settlement across emerging markets. Stablecoins filled the gap traditional networks haven't, and that's where the next leg of volume keeps coming from. It will settle on chains those regulators already trust.

Three years ago stablecoin volume was mostly onchain traders. Today, it's 23x PayPal and over half of ACH volume. Stables found PMF with real economic activity (payroll, remittances, cross-border B2B) and blew every other settlement layer out of the water. Lesson in there.

Everyone is racing to build payment rails for AI agents. The harder problem sits one layer below. Rails move value, but at scale they don't resolve: → who is on the other side of the transaction → whether the entity behind an agent exists in any registry a regulated party recognizes Which is why a new agent still arrives with no reputation and no legal identity that a compliance-gated counterparty can verify before letting value move. @McKinsey projects agentic commerce could drive up to $1T in the US B2C retail market alone by 2030, with global projections reaching $3T to $5T. The layer that verifies agent identity and tracks behavior over time will shape what agent-to-agent commerce looks like at institutional scale. Blockchains are designed to provide exactly that, and early standards like x402 are pointing in the right direction, but it's still being built.
