If he falls out of Round 2 and the Patriots haven’t drafted him yet, Wheatley is a guy they’d trade up for. One year of learning under Byard then a decade of a Woodson/Wheatley duo on the backend.

Free-agent DT Christian Wilkins fully intends to play this season, but still is rehabbing his foot injury, per his agent David Mulugheta. So far 26 teams have reached out and are waiting for Wilkins to be ready, and Wilkins is expected to have a new home as soon as he wants.

@ADPatriots I think a nose tackle just gets in the way of Williams and Barmore. Why move your 2 best linemen further away from the QB? Their pass rush was better out if the four man rush last season.

Unrelated, and he’s probably headed to Philly anyways, but I think an underrated aspect of AJ being here is that he’d be a perfect mentor for Boutte to learn under.
