You would be kidding yourself if you think the ACC is adding us with this hoops program as is. USF/Memphis/Uconn are well positioned ahead of this based simply on basketball dragging us down.

Only one school in the state of Louisiana was in March Madness in 2026, McNeese (3rd year in a row). Give me the days of UNO under Benny Dees/Tim Floyd, Dale Brown at LSU, Perry Clark at Tulane, Mike Vining with Northeast LA. again. Can the state get more than one in 2027. This is what college athletics is now. The school is the Intellectual Property and marketing wrapper of a university, with the internal machinery of professional sports. USF gets it. So does LSU. Those who don’t, at the highest levels, will be left behind.

The American Conference is just bad at men's basketball right now. The regular season and tournament champion getting a 12 seed and losing to Louisville (missing its best player) might be a low point for the league. Not USF's fault, but the league is very weak.
