Pollutants such as particulate matter from coal fired power plants cause asthma and other respiratory issues. This is why it's important that we find greener ways to generate electricity to keep our air clean and clear. #apesair @franklinlorax

@franklinlorax #apesenergy my car runs on gasoline which is extracted from crude oil. Unfortunately gasoline emits a high amount of Co2. Investing in a electric or hybrid car would be a great way to eliminate the air pollution and achieve sustainability!

I make sure to always turn off the lights before I leave the room I was in. This makes sure that I am saving the energy in my house and helping the environment overall. #apesenergy @franklinlorax

Since I live in Franklin, this light is being powered by a coal fire plant. The coal is burned to heat up water which turns into steam, which flows into a turbine, which turns a generator, producing electricity. #apesenergy @franklinlorax

LED lights like this use far less electricity than incandescent or fluorescent bulbs. No matter what bulbs you use, you should always turn off the lights when you don't need them in order to save electricity. #apesenergy @franklinlorax

When going on backpacking trips, it's very important to bring the right type of food. Trail mix is a perfect snack for backpacking! The carbohydrates, proteins, and fats all make sure the body is well nourished for a day in the wilderness! #apespop @franklinlorax

I use this water bottle every day instead of disposable plastic bottles because it reduces my ecological footprint. #apespop @franklinlorax

Franklin's biome is a temperate seasonal forest, meaning that we need to keep the heat up in our homes as it gets colder during the winter! #apeseco @franklinlorax

This is Otto, and he is a k-strategist. He prefers a few offspring rather than having as much offspring as he possibly can. Some people say that dogs are actually r-strategists, but since they care for their offspring, they are actually k-strategists #apeseco @franklinlorax

@franklinlorax #apeseco My dog Daisy (a K-strategist) can enjoy all 4 season as she lives in a temperate seasonal forest. She can play in the snow during the winter and swim all day in the summer.

Wisconsin is in a biome called the temperate seasonal forest. Conifers, also known as evergreen, pine, fir and spruce trees can be found here. Conifers have needle like leaves that stay green year round, which makes them perfect for Christmas trees. #apeseco @franklinlorax

Fertilizers and other pollutants enter our rivers and streams as runoff, and this damages our water quality - not only in rivers and streams, but in our Great Lakes. #apeswater @franklinlorax
