Can someone please disrupt the Autodesk design software monopoly. I’m sick of this product staying the same for 10+ years. Do they think AutoCAD is the excel of the engineering world?

A Chinese cyber gang spent over a year hiding inside ArcGIS — the trusted mapping software — without anyone noticing. 😳 No fancy malware, just a sneaky tweak to a legit server extension that turned into a backdoor. Even system restores brought them back like a bad ex. 💀 And yet someone somewhere still says, “Proprietary software is more secure.” 😂

i think it would be way better if all our cities looked like this in the future American, roman empire vibes ("greco-futurist"), space-age, and full of beauty and life

The thing about cities (and if you’re conservative this may rub you the wrong way) they typically outlive the empire in which they were born. NYC will more than likely be here after America is gone.

@PaulO_Carroll Nemetschek bought Firmus AI. Rolling it into BlueBeam. Bentley has bought dozens of companies but recently Cesium as of last year. Also going heavy on services investment.

@AEC_tech_guy What's been the most interesting acquisitions from these two companies in your mind?

Nemetschek and Bentley are the only companies in our industry making power moves. They just can't seem to stop buying companies.

the MEDIAN 1BR in West Village cost $5,750/month 💀 been a while since i launched anything new for @leaseswapnyc but i've been looking for a new spot to rent in NYC and was wondering which neighborhoods to look into / whether a listing is a good deal or not then i realized i actually already have all this data so i went on a lil data science sidequest and made an interactive dashboard for NYC rentals you can filter by neighborhoods, bedrooms, and where the rentals were listed and see breakdowns and stats

@vic_muchiri Not as much value-add for the startup. The VC arm can implement in-house which acts as essentially a first customer and a thorough beta test. Other than that, not much they can do for you.

SafeAI acquired. Foundamental and Brick&Mortar were early stage investors. No home run but a nice pay day for the usual suspects in AEC.

Slowly picking up speed again

Autodesk may buy PTC in what may be the biggest acquisition in AEC tech history. Would potentially expand upon a massive CAD market which Autodesk has only dipped its toes in.
