I think about leaving the UK more & more after each budget. But where do you go? Dubai? Monaco? Portugal? It’s sad. London used to be the global destination. Finance capital. Royalty. Beauty. Unless you’re middle to upper middle class, every woman in your family tree from 1750-1950 almost definitely had a job of some description: laundry maid, servant, street seller, market woman, harvester, milkmaid etc. The “housewife” is an upper middle class fantasy.

@Biblicalman OTOH, does it work the other way? Going out at 5 am to clear snow off the driveway in 15–degree weather. Mowing the lawn. Landscaping. Building sheds. Building stone walls. Organizing the basement and attic. Basement finished… A glass of water would have been nice.

There’s a woman on my street who is a druggie and she keeps popping out kids. Last time it was for a bigger council house. The kids are an absolute state and they go to their nan’s house to be fed. She doesn’t give a damn about their welfare because she only breeds for the cash.

I’ve read Stephen Wolfes book, “A Case for Christian Nationalism” and I’ve read Iskers and Torbas books. They all talk like this. Even in their “scholarly” works. They have no actual argument other than “stop being gay.” Christian Nationalists have no valid arguments. And they all ironically prove that just by talking.
