The Old Dominion University shooter has been identified by law enforcement sources as Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, former Virginia National Guardsman, who pled guilty in October 2016 of attempting to provide material support to ISIS (at the time it was referred to as ISIL, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.) CBS News: The suspect who rammed a vehicle into a Michigan synagogue was armed with a rifle, and was killed by synagogue security, multiple sources tell us. The vehicle caught on fire. The suspect's body burned, complicating the initial identification process.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said she is monitoring the situation at Temple Israel in the Detroit area, where a suspect is dead after an apparent synagogue attack on Thursday. "Michigan's Jewish community should be able to live and practice their faith in peace," she said in her statement. "Antisemitism and violence have no place in Michigan."
