AFL Clash Policy
@AFLClashPolicy
Independent view of AFL policy on clash guernseys and general uniform policy.

Two years before WWI, with battles no longer fought at close range where visibility was moot, the French war minister Adolphe Messimy tried to update the army’s uniform from blue coats and red trousers to something less conspicuous like gray-blue or gray-green, but was vetoed because to banish the colourful “is to go contrary both to French taste and military function.” This stubborn attachment, he later wrote, “was to have cruel consequences.”

Carlton & Essendon’s dark guernseys don’t clash according to @AFL_House because they are both big Melbourne clubs.♻️

Black & navy clash according to @AFL_House except when Carlton plays Collingwood because they are both Big Melbourne clubs ♻️

.@AFL_House say black & navy clash except when Collingwood plays Carlton because they are Big Melbourne clubs ♻️

@Josh__Barnes Home team (which in this case is the team who finished highest) gets to choose from their Dark and Light uniforms.

No one within AFL Football Operations has the focus on the actual football to fix this ongoing clash. Maybe this broadcaster will finally demand clear contrasting spectacles for their viewers.
