@RDPHistory No TV in Parliament back then. I well remember, as a 13 year-old boy, listening to the debate - exceptionally on a Saturday - on the radio. Extraordinarily dramatic. Wish the BBC would publish a full recording.
April 2nd 1982: Margaret Thatcher puts on a brave face and denounces the "illegal usurpation of British Sovereignty" in the Commons, receiving the full backing of Parliament to respond to the Argentine invasion. Tomorrow, the UK will lobby the UN for support to go to war.
Asi fue el proyecto Apollo (1967-72) que nos llevo a la luna en 1969
Apollo 1 (destruido en tierra)
Apollo 2, 3, 4, 5 y 6 (pruebas no tripuladas)
Apollo 7 (prueba con tripulación, orbita terrestre)
Apollo 8, 9 y 10 (pruebas en orbita lunar)
Apollo 11 (primer alunizaje) >>
OTD in 1980: Trans American Flight 209, a B-707, lands safely in Chicago (US) after crew was incapacitated by food poisoning. An ex-fighter pilot traveling as a passenger, along with a flight attendant, took control, supported by an ATC specialist and a former USAF captain.
For the first time in over 50 years, humans are Moonbound.
At 6:35 p.m. EDT (2235 UTC) NASA’s Space Launch System rocket and the Orion spacecraft lifted off from the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, sending four astronauts on a planned test flight around the Moon and back. go.nasa.gov/4tlRfRS
@astro_jaz Except without the drive of Apollo. It will be several years before another Artemis launch. The first manned Apollo (7) to the landing of Apollo 11 was about a year. And even this mission is far less ambitious than Apollo 8 - which did not just do a flyby but did 10 orbits
We're going around the Moon. Come watch with us. Artemis II's four-astronaut crew is lifting off from @NASAKennedy on an approximately 10-day mission that will bring us closer to living on the Moon and Mars. The launch window opens at 6:24pm ET (2224 UTC). twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…
@Cyclone_Oz@NASA@NASAKennedy Disgraceful coverage. It’s like they’d never covered a launch before. Even missed srb sep to show us some bozos in deckchairs
Because this is reality and not a hoax, you don’t just land on the Moon on the very first flight with new equipment. So, just like the last time we went and eventually landed, NASA build up to it.
Artemis I = uncrewed test
(Just like Apollo 4 and Apollo 6)
Test the rocket.
Test reentry.
Prove the system works.
Artemis II = crewed lunar flight
(Just like Apollo 8)
First crewed mission beyond low Earth orbit.
Navigate to the Moon.
Enter lunar orbit.
Operate in deep space.
Return safely at lunar reentry speeds.
This isn’t new. It’s how you don’t kill astronauts.

@SangitaMyska Btw, if you’re heading down towards Hiroshima (or even if not) try and get to the Washuzan Observation site. The views across the Inland Sea are beyond spectacular - it’s about 3 hours drive from Kyoto.
@CcibChris Be aware that I have seen that hand signal used in France to denote the female genitalia, so be cautious about assuming it’s an OK symbol. He may not approve of spotters.l 🤣
@SangitaMyska Btw, if you haven’t already, go and visit the hillside with the Shinto gates going all the way up … it’s stunning. Can’t remember the name but it’s very well known.
🚨🚨 EXCL: Micky van de Ven will REFUSE to play for #thfc after the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi as the Club’s new Head Coach! ❌🇳🇱
The Dutchman has hinted towards the Italian’s past comments, and will look to force a move away from Spurs unless there is a managerial change.
