The ABA’s monopoly restricts the supply of lawyers, inflates legal costs, and infects law school education with a partisan bias. It doesn’t have to be that way. Texas and Florida are opening the door to innovative approaches that don’t involve the ABA. Tennessee should do the same.

Today, the @FTC along with the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee and the DOJ Antitrust Division offered the Tennessee Supreme Court some constructive alternatives to the ABA cartel, a partisan organization that limits entry into the legal profession. ftc.gov/news-events/ne…

The ABA’s monopoly on law school accreditation continues to crumble. The Tennessee Supreme Court asked those interested to weigh in on whether it should reduce or eliminate its reliance on the ABA for law school accreditation. It should.

.@Sonderling47 is one of the Task Force’s most important partners and is doing a fantastic job running the Department of Labor.
Acting Secretary Keith Sonderling@Sonderling47

As a member of @VP's Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, @USDOL is doubling down on our efforts to eliminate the waste and abuse that has run rampant across our nation's federal programs for too long, including within UI programs. We have a responsibility to ensure the system *Americans* pay into is helping *Americans* get back on their feet, not helping fraudsters and other criminals take in cash on the taxpayer's dime.

The task force and the DOJ will be relentless in exposing these fraudsters wherever they may be hiding.

BREAKING: DOJ confirms to @FoxNews that FBI and HSI agents are currently raiding 20+ locations in the Minneapolis, MN area in relation to ongoing federal fraud investigations. Sources tell FOX the locations are largely Somali linked businesses, including the infamous "Quality Learning Center". I'm told these are court approved search warrants being served and they are tied to fraud, not immigration enforcement. Fox is told 22 search warrants were executed in Minnesota this morning. DOJ spokesperson holding statement: “Today the FBI with federal, state and local law enforcement is involved in court-authorized law enforcement activity as part of an ongoing fraud investigation.”

Great work by the team led by @SecRollins and @DepSecVaden. And more is coming!
Deputy Secretary Stephen Vaden@DepSecVaden

Since October 01, @USDA_FNS has disqualified 1,562 retailers and disabled 760 illegal point of sale devices, resulting in THE PREVENTION of nearly $835M in fraudulent SNAP transactions. Commit fraud? We will find you and hold you accountable. Including jail time. And now, we have the whole of government, under the leadership of @VP and @AFergusonFTC, rooting out abuse of any program meant to help the most vulnerable.

Every one of our nation’s marketplaces ought to be open to competition, and the marketplace of ideas is no exception. Today’s settlement is a major victory for those who believe in a free economy, and the free exchange of ideas.

With our valued state partners, we have filed a consent decree against three of America’s largest advertising agencies. We alleged that these companies engaged in coordinated anticompetitive conduct to deprive advertising revenue to certain websites on the spurious grounds of agreed-upon “misinformation” standards. Now, with the FTC’s previous settlement with Omnicom, the FTC has decrees with advertising agencies that control half the online ad marketplace that require all of them to stop this anticompetitive conduct, and imposes a rigorous monitoring system to prevent it from occurring again. ftc.gov/news-events/ne…

When companies collude to prevent competition, it undermines the freedom and fairness of our markets. When that collusion also prevents the spread of ideas they don’t like, it undermines our basic rights as citizens to speak and be heard. Today, the FTC took monumental steps to promote economic competition and stop collusive censorship.

We’ve all had the feeling of being surprised by delivery fees and service charges imposed by these delivery services. Consumers may wind up paying 10 to 20 percent more online than they would if they had just driven themselves to the restaurant or grocery store. That’s why the Trump-Vance FTC is initiating the process of determining whether a new rule to prevent unfair or deceptive fees in online meal and grocery delivery services is necessary to ensure consumers know exactly how much the service costs and who they are paying to perform it. ftc.gov/news-events/ne…

It’s not “free delivery” if there’s also a “service fee” tacked on. And a tip for the delivery driver should go to the driver, not be secretly skimmed off the top by the online meal- and grocery-delivery companies. Every retailer needs to cover expenses, but fees must be disclosed clearly and up-front, not disguised with confusing fine print or hidden markups.

These kinds of misrepresentations harm consumers and undermine our trust in other products that truly are made right here in the USA. They also harm honest American companies who make their products in America. Consumers who purchase a product advertised as “Made in the USA” should have complete confidence that their purchase will support American workers and manufacturers. Today’s action is only the beginning.

Today, the Trump-Vance FTC held three companies accountable for false or misleading claims that their products, including dartboards, boots, and flagpoles kits, were “Made in the USA.” One of these companies will be required to return $625,000 to affected American consumers, our largest ever award to consumers affected by false-origin claims. ftc.gov/news-events/ne…

When a flag is advertised as “Made in the USA,” Old Glory better be made in the United States by American workers. A true patriot would be rightfully angry if he learned that he was tricked into buying an American flag made in overseas.

.@AGofAlaska continues to be a good partner with the @FTC and an outstanding defender of Alaskan consumers
Alaska Attorney General Stephen J Cox@AGofAlaska

Good to see the @FTC stepping in on deceptive auto pricing.  We just wrapped a case in Alaska against Swickard—bait-and-switch pricing, hidden add-ons, cars advertised but not actually available. Alaskans already pay inflated prices. They shouldn’t have to fight the price tag too. Thanks to @AFergusonFTC for reinforcing these consumer protection issues nationally.
