Triplet Tropical Cyclones being birth in the Western Pacific! Yes it’s far away, but it’s a sign of a rapidly evolving tropical Pacific pattern shift and will have a big impact on global weather by accelerating the transition to El Niño through bursts of westerly winds propelling warm water towards the central and east Pacific. (Notice how they are spawned near the Equator but spin in opposite directions due to being in the Northern vs Southern Hemisphere.) This is just another sign that a strong to super El Niño is evolving. That process transfers tons of stored heat in the Pacific into the atmosphere. El Niño is arguably one of the the biggest drivers of weather shifts around the globe, some good like decreased hurricane activity in the Atlantic, some bad like big floods and heatwaves, and gives a big jolt to the global temperature.

As the record heat wave winds down, here is where the numbers stand. From March 15 through March 26 there have been... - More than 100 monthly records broken or tied - More than 700 daily records broken or tied And since March 1 there have been more than 1,100 daily records broken or tied across the nation. Some record heat will remain through the weekend, especially for areas of the Southwest. Be sure to check your latest forecast at weather.gov.

“The fact that we’re melting out now, before we even have reached what historically has been the peak snow amount on the ground tells you everything you need to know,” CU Boulder's Jen Kay on the West's wildfire risk. cnn.com/2026/03/27/wea…

Breaking a monthly record is typically a 1 or 2-day thing. Flagstaff, AZ reached or topped their previous March record of 73˚ the past 8 days in a row since St. Patrick's Day. Las Vegas did that 7 days in a row. Today, Cheyenne & Denver could set new March records they already set last week.

Today is the climatological peak of snowpack in New Mexico. This year, the snowpack peaked around February 23. We have been at the lowest snowpack on record since March 10 with rapid melt off recently due to the record heat. #NMwx #NMFire

HURREVAC has long been a practical and trusted part of hurricane operations, especially in supporting training, evacuation planning, and readiness along the Gulf Coast. My background with the National Weather Service @NWS and @NOAA included frequent use of the program to brief emergency managers and government officials on hurricane impacts and decision-making considerations. In my current work as a consulting meteorologist, I still use similar data to help translate forecast information into operational guidance. As the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) @iaem noted, HURREVAC is a critical decision tool that provides storm surge visualizations, exercise modules, and transportation modeling, all of which support preparedness and response just as hurricane season approaches. Maintaining tools that strengthen preparedness and situational awareness is a key part of effective emergency management. #hurricane #emergencymanagement #publicsafety
