Her name was Lini Puthussery. She was 31 years old. A nurse at the Perambra Taluk Hospital in Kozhikode Kerala. She had been working there for six years. She had two sons. Ritul was five years old. Sidharth was two years old. In May 2018 the Nipah virus arrived in Kerala. Two brothers and a relative were brought to the hospital with symptoms nobody had seen before. Lini was on night duty when they arrived. She cared for them through the night. They died soon after. Confirmed Nipah positive. By Friday Lini herself had fallen ill. She was shifted to the ICU at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. When she learned she had contracted the Nipah virus she asked the hospital not to allow her two sisters to visit. She did not want them exposed. From the ICU she wrote a note to her husband Sajeesh. “Sajeesh I am almost on my way. I don’t think I will be able to see you. Sorry. Please look after our little ones and take them to the Gulf. They should not be alone like our father. Lots of love.” She died on May 21, 2018. Her body was cremated quickly to prevent the spread of infection. Her family could not say a proper goodbye. She did not hesitate when the patients arrived. She did not ask who would care for her sons if she fell ill. She showed up for her shift and did her job. Today is International Nurses Day. Her name was Lini Puthussery. She deserves to be remembered.

Caste is slowly losing its grip. I’m receiving invitations to inter-caste marriage receptions often. Here’s one: a KVG girl from Erode marrying an Iyer boy from Chennai. I genuinely thought it would take another century for this to become normal. Surprisingly fast. 🤷

Don't know why. Tamil people want their leaders to decide on their own and not look up for permission from Delhi leadership. Kamarajar was very powerful because he was the high command. Nehru and Indira respected and listened to him. Annamalai was becoming a powerful leader. His independent approach was not liked by central BJP. So he was removed. Annamalai was the only leader BJP was able to produce in Tamil Nadu in all these decades. BJP has made themselves a fringe player in Tamil Nadu. Looks like they would remain so. Annamalai wanted a third space other than DMK and ADMK. And that space now belongs to Vijay.

The older I get, the more I value being raised in the Balkans. Growing up, my mother often repeated a popular proverb: “Covered milk is not licked by the cats.” It taught me to move more quietly in life, and to keep plans to myself, to protect what matters before it’s fully formed, and to never feel the need to display success or wealth for an audience. I find myself appreciating that lesson even more now, watching how easily people share their goals, routines, intimate moments, and achievements with strangers online. I learned at a young age that it is easy to be compassionate with someone's sorrow, but it takes a more refined soul to be joyous of other's happiness. Hence, why I'm glad I was taught to value privacy before social media became a thing. I've seen people announce business ventures that failed, engagements that never came through and worse - pregnancies that ended tragically. A healthy dose of superstition isn't bad, especially when it comes to protecting the things you value most. Everyone needs a Balkan mother figure in their life. Mine is retired and loves giving life advice to young people, so you can hire her if you want, lol. She'll drown you in lived wisdom.

The Cultural difference between Indians and the white People.. He is Heinrich Klassen, He earns around 30 Crore from IPL every year. He earns around another 8-10 Crores from other Leagues. He is currently in Hyderabad with his Wife and Daughter. Today, he wanted to take his family for a ride and he booked an Auto . He could have easily hired a luxury car for his family but he still chose to travel by auto in 40 Degrees. In India, if someone earns 10 Lakh Per month, He/she will never sit in an auto because that may hurt their Status in the society!!
