West Ham handed David Moyes a contract, and in his first full season with the club (2020/2021), they finished 6th. In the 2021/2022 season, they finished 7th and reached the Europa League semi-final. But surprisingly, West Ham fans had started to grumble about Moyes' style of play not being exotic enough. In the 2022/2023 season, Moyes won the inaugural Europa Conference League with West Ham, their first trophy in 24 years, and finished 14th in the league. At the end of the season, they sold the club's MVP, Delcan Rice, for £105M. West Ham then brought in Kudus (£38M), Ward-Prowse (£30M), Álvarez (£35M) and Mavropanos (£19M), and loaned in Kalvin Phillips from City to replace 14 outgoing players. Moyes reached the QF of the Europa League and finished 9th in the league with 52 points (W14, D10, L14). West Ham fans were fuming and demanded that the club hire a better coach who could get them playing 'exciting football".
