Roseate Spoonbill bird in flight

Every time Bad Bunny said "Ey!" in the Halftime Show

She may look like an ordinary housecat, and that’s exactly what the person transporting her through Denver International Airport in 2022 thought, but Dia is anything but domestic. She’s a Geoffroy’s cat, a wild carnivore native to South America. After going viral for her attempted escape on a flight, Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance partnered with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Colorado Parks and Wildlife to provide Dia with expert care. She found a permanent home at the Zoo, where she receives exceptional animal and veterinary care. Dia now lives behind the scenes in Village Hall, where she rotates through the habitat with Jonas the fishing cat. Jonas typically explores the space during the day, while Dia enjoys access at night, when she’s most comfortable and active. This setup allows Dia to thrive in a way that best supports her wellbeing. Geoffroy’s cats are often mistaken for domestic housecats, but as Dia’s international adventure made clear, they are far too wild to be kept as pets. Their pelts are among the most trafficked in the world, and because of their elusive nature, these cats remain highly understudied in the wild, making conservation awareness more important than ever. 📸 : Animal Care Specialists, Anton M. and Marcia S. #WorldGeoffroysCatDay #GeoffroysCat #Rescue #DenverZooConservationAlliance #SavingWildlifeTogether
