nobody ever: me: yes, I know developing a multi-player persistent online game is hard work and requires teams of people. And yes, I'm building it by myself with very little expectation of monetization. Why am I building it? because I can? because it's fun? because it's a core part of the Arboreal digital universe? maybe all of the above. This looks like a simple retro style game, and it is. but it's also something different. It's a retro game engine. the potential puzzle and narrative layer that is already possible here is endless, and power users will be able to build their own game assets including maps, skins, and even interactive mini games. Not focusing on immersive graphics or complex physics because yeah, I'm not foolish enough to try to do all that alone, but also because the focus is UX and gameplay first. fun intuitive low commitment social and co-op (but some maps or mini games may by PvP...)
