Free tip for those seeing their feed filled with complaints or analysis of how the algorithm here is changing for the better or worse. personally I hate seeing this trending as it's super boring and makes it feel very cold and competitive here as opposed to social and connected.
If you're here to build a brand without an ad budget, all I can say is good luck. maybe buy lottery tickets instead. Twitter (sometimes referred to as X) is now fully mature in the sense that it's just another media channel designed for max extraction.
If you're here to engage with communities authentically, then that's what you should focus on. What I see in my feed is that most posts from people I intentionally follow get very little views. My own posts get much fewer views. I sometimes see a post from a mutual and click on their profile and see I've missed many of their posts. My suggestion and hope is that we all move from "For You" to "Following" and intentionally like and reply or QT to our mutuals. as a social site we boost each other, so we should increase the dwell time on our mutuals posts, and make sure that we do our part to see more from people who are actually here to engage with us and who are not here just to try to maximize a payout of some sort.
I'm building a brand here, yes and I would like to get eyes because I think I have a unique point of view and a lot of value to add to the conversation on business, art, tech, and decentralization. However, like I said before, I think the chance to break out for anything real without spending ad dollars has gone significantly down, and while the latest changes MIGHT reduce spammy bots, it is not going to make it any easier to get break out visibility. So I'm moving my dedicated advertising efforts to IG and keeping this space just for interactions and authentic communication with existing community and supporters. Not saying you need to do that, but that this space still works well for conversation, but the algorithm will be shaped by what we focus on. so we need to do our part to shape it. Don't pay for what we don't want (don't dwell on influencer or viral posts, scroll past them quick) and spend time on your friends and mutuals posts, boost them by interacting in whatever way you can spare.
If you made it this far in my wall of text (I guess I could have written an X Article at this point, lol) then here's a sneak peek from the Random Forest game that I'm building as a reward. If you like an unusual mosh up of Zelda / Moria / 90's Sierra/Lucasarts / online multiplayer ARGMUD then there will be more coming.
