I think there is no other options than personal investors and EU governments pouring 200+ billions in Mistral and lowering regulations so they can train an European Opus. Otherwise EU citizens will become second class citizens and be forever behind the US or China-dependant. It’s the number 1 priority.

Opus 4.8 completed the task.
It used 2% of the weekly limit and 7% of the 7-hour limit.
GLM 5.2 did not complete the task.
It consumed 20% of the weekly limit and 100% of the 5-hour limit.
Token usage is completely abnormal:
Opus 4.8: less than 1.5M tokens
GLM 5.2: reached 53M tokens
And this is despite the app showing only around 1.67M tokens.
This means one thing very clearly: cached tokens are not working properly on GLM 5.2. The repeated context is being counted as normal input instead of cached tokens.
I have been dealing with this issue for more than a month with no real solution.
By the way, I am on the Pro plan, and I paid for a full yearly subscription.
These numbers are not normal. This is not usage behavior. This is a serious billing/cache accounting problem on GLM 5.2.

We foresee a rapid decline in the valuation of Anthropic and Dario Amodei, who has seriously miscalculated his dealings with the US government and, at the same time, the rapid success of OpenAI compared to Anthropic. The upcoming Anthropic IPO will be particularly important in this context.
Everything will be decided next week.

Via The Information Amazon CEO Andy Jassy reportedly warned senior Trump administration officials about security risks in Anthropic’s newest Claude models, helping trigger late-night export restrictions on Mythos 5 and Fable 5. "An Amazon spokesperson told The Information: “As a leading cloud provider that serves a large number of private and public sector customers, it’s not uncommon for governments to seek our counsel on potential security risks. When they occur, we don’t share the details of these discussions.”" In other words: Anthropic’s own mega-backer may have played a key role in pushing the government to freeze access to its most advanced models.

Unless this changes, OpenAI researchers on visas need to plan for the fact they’ll probably lose access to internal models, and therefore their ability to do their jobs moving forward, sometime in the next couple months.

U.S. Aerospace companies have long known they can’t hire non-US persons to work on tech that affects national security. The companies build technology firewalls between U.S. and non-US divisions. It’s kind of shocking that AI companies didn’t know they’d have to do this, too.
