I've been watching posts from @gauntletai for close to a year now curious about their technique and how they are teaching their students how to use AI to build software. The results I've seen are unbelievable especially given the extremely fast turnaround times for the projects

Most people think about discipline as overcoming friction between intention and action, but half the battle is really just setting up systems that minimize the amount of friction to be overcome.

Agent icon RAG sounds complicated taste does not. And not only that, but it communicates a goal of the technology from the perspective of developing it for applications and pushing it to new heights.

All of these technical terms and names programmers and engineers use to define all of these new concepts sound really challenging and complicated.... until you learn a more commonly used synonym that actually makes the concept much simpler to understand.

After making a decently impressive first pass at marketing website for a SaaS I am eagerly awaiting for AI technology and my AI expertise to advance so that make entire videogames that would have been cutting-edge in the early to mid 2000s and beyond with a prompt. So early etc.

I see all of this talk about token management being with using agents. This reminds me of RTD games. There's all of this talk about how best to prepare your mind to use AI. "Just doing it" has value, but playing videogames that require resource management under stress has more.

From what I have seen, agents are the next step in the SaaS evolution. You don't understand it until you see people outside of normal tech bubbles or the young interact with technology. They want something intelligent enough to flow between an application not click through a UI.

This is the appeal of using an AI-first development process for me. I am not a good programmer. Never was. Without AI doing the work of writing code I wouldn't do it. I would rather do other things. But, with the force multiplier of AI I have a reason to care about programming.

The reason why programmers think "software is dead" is because they don't have any ideas, and therefore keep implementing the same ones over and over again. And these are the same people who lament idea guys even though they obviously need them!

I tired to take my Terraform Associate test yesterday, and unfortunately didn't pass it. Given that I have almost no experience with it and tried to learn the concepts with a study guide of my own making this isn't surprising... I have a week to refine my study approach.

There's a lot of discussion about the role of software engineering in the future, and really, the conversation that needs to be had is how to get the right ideas and models into the hands of the right engineers. That's what we need to be optimizing more than anything else.

“Software is dead” because you keep vibe coding the same 3 crud apps. If you worked on cool stuff like “distributed game engines” you’d find out that there are plenty of unsolved problems

So I have a web application that is built using a modern full-stack technology stack. It pulls data from a database and there's load times associated with it. It's not instantly pulled even though the data it is pulling is more often then not text. How do I improve my load times?

The difference between “high class” BS jobs (investment banking, consulting) and “low class” BS jobs is that the former makes PowerPoints, the latter just writes emails. Something similar will happen with SWE, where everyone is vibe coding, but the “cracked” vibe code GPU kernels
wordgrammer@wordgrammer

Software engineering won’t die it’ll just become another BS white collar job where you work for 30 minutes, spend 3 hours formatting an email, then spend the rest of the day scrolling Reddit, switching back to a partially filled spreadsheet if your boss walks by
